The pen rattles, add a spring
The ink cartridge has about half an inch of play, it just slides back and forth. As long as the tip never leaves the paper, it stays in the proper position. Otherwise, it just freely moves back and forth. I even got a Parker replacement that has the extended bottom piece, and that made it only a 1/4 inch slide back and forth. Just rattling in there.Which is a shame, because it's one of the only tactical pens I have found where the cap reattaches on both ends!And it feels good in the hand! So it really is a shame that is awful design. I COULD stick something up in there to keep the ink cartridge in a fully extended position, but that would put the point of the ink as much as half an inch out and then the cap won't go on and the hand placement would feel weird.Going to have to return it, I'm afraid.UPDATE: So, I disassembled a regular ballpoint pen and cannibalized the spring out of it, placed it on the end of the ink cartridge and screwed the end on, and it's perfectly secure and the right length out the tip. I'm wondering if maybe the pen was supposed to have a spring to begin with and wasn't included... I'd be interested to see other reviews.Anyway, I'm canceling the return because now it's about perfect. Replaced the ink that came with it with a Fisher Space write anywhere refill. I'm keeping the review at 2 stars though because whether it's not supposed to have a spring, that's a design flaw, or it's supposed to but got missed is a quality control flaw.

This is a tool before it’s a pen
If you’re looking at this as a writing utensil don’t get it. It’s more of a glass breaker. To use it as a pen you need to pull out the pen piece and switch out the glass breaker. Not worth the time.

Meh
Works okay but the pen cartridge doesn't stay in place so the pen itself hangs a bit until I go to write with it and then it fits into place while I'm writing which is annoying.

Its Okay for what it is and what you paid for
My only gripe is that this pen has no side texturing or grips. It's completely slippery. Throw in some stippling on the side on a 2.0 version and you'd have a winner! I give this pen a "blah" score,... something like a 3. Average.

the grip is easy to hold and the tool length is good. although the product description is geared toward males, i am a female so i guess i'd change the description to gender neutral.
