VacMaster 978231 1 Quart Oil for VacMaster

I have owned my VacMaster for probably about 5 - 6 years. I use it in my home kitchen and because I don't use it like in a commercial setting (meaning thousands of cycles per month/year), I have to change the oil in mine at different intervals from a commercial setting. I use my vacuum chamber about 300 - 500 cycles per year and because I use it much more heavily in the fall/winter when I'm processing meats or sealing items from my garden, I tend to get more moisture build up in my oil (I will explain). Most people don't know this, but your vacuum chamber is removing air from the chamber and that air has moisture in it. This oil is supposed to hold that moisture in suspension inside the oil reservoir but if you use your vacuum chamber for home purposes, you probably do not get enough cycles on yours to warrant frequent enough oil changes and if you do not change your oil often enough, that moisture will separate from the oil and build up inside the reservoir and on your sight window. The key for a home use vacuum chamber is to change your oil about every 6 - 8 months or every 200 - 500 cycles depending on how many cycles you use per year. I change the oil in my vacuum chamber very frequently to prevent too much moisture build up (water separation) and getting that cloudy gray moisture on my sight window. If I do get that moisture build up, I just put in a fill or two of something like Sea Foam (and run it about 10 cycles) to remove the moisture (this recommendation comes directly from the Technicians at VacMaster), clean the inside of the oil reservoir and then after cleaning it, I will flush it with fresh oil a couple of times. To flush it, I just fill the reservoir with oil, run about 10 cycles and drain and re-fill it with fresh oil. Needless to say, I use a pretty fair amount of this oil. It is cheap insurance against having to replace a vacuum pump or worse yet, having to buy a brand new vacuum chamber.

It's oil for a vacuum sealer. How to rate that. I used this in my vevor chamber vacuum sealer and after two months it seems to be working well. Came well packaged (vacuum sealed itself) so no leaks. I'm not an oil specialist so I can't give anymore help. :)
