Madden NFL 20 - PlayStation 4

So I was skeptical about buying this game after yrs of disappointment but baught it on sale 39$. So me I play by myself Franchise OFFLINE so the rest I can’t talk about. The game play has improved so much and u can actually run the ball now and with RPO which Im sure will be improving in time makes this a lot interesting. For me this is a time killer and the updates keep it fresh and I actually enjoy playing Madden offline again and one on one with friends.

The annual purchase of Madden is a ritual and, while I've been disappointed with the series with past titles, this one impresses.Out of the box, this game is offense-minded like the real-life NFL. But tinker with the sliders and play on All-Madden and you've got a struggle of offense vs. defense.What I do miss is the ability to hire all the assistant coaches in Franchise mode. I miss inking an offensive, defensive and special teams coordinators who could boost my roster's ratings.

This is a Christmas gift for a boy that's really lives football, he's collecting them, was delivered in plenty of time for Christmas

UPDATE: This game has been patched now 18 times. They are on update 1.18. My original review below was when I first purchased it. The gameplay seems to change a little after every patch, so it is hard to rate this game. In some but not all of the patches, there is a problem with switching to the closest defender. They fixed it in like patch 1.12, but now it is a problem again in the latest patch. As they "fix" problems, new problems pop up. There are a lot of quirks in this game. My running back seems to stick to my own blockers or defenders, when there appears to be a hole to run through. The video highlights at the end of the game almost never show any of the touchdowns. The qb release is slow. The pass blocking is not normal; either it works perfectly or you will definitely be sacked even if you move in the "pocket." I just switched back to Madden 18 and find the gameplay better after adjusting sliders. I recommend Madden 18. I am reducing my rating of Madden 20 3 stars after the 18 patches and many many hours of gameplay.ORIGINAL REVIEW: My favorite Maddens were on the PS2. Madden 05, 06, and 07 were my favorite. I really only care about franchise mode. I want a game that is fun, with realistic gameplay, responsive controls, and fluid graphics/framerate. Madden 18 and 19 for PS4 had everything but the fun factor. On pro mode or higher, the game was extremely difficult, while on rookie mode it was too easy. In Madden 18, I played a franchise on rookie and threw for 95 TDs and 5 ints and went 16-0 and won the super bowl easily. Most games I would win 72-3. I then changed to pro on my next season, and I was 0-4 with 2 TDs and 10 ints. Way to big of a jump. I quit playing. Basically the same thing on Madden 19. I really would have had to tweak the sliders to make it playable. On pro or online, Madden 18 and 19 required a lot of planning, thinking, and extreme concentration. Very stressful. I like realism, but I still want the game to have a fun factor. I think Madden 20 meets all of my requirements. It is a blast to play on pro mode (level 2). The games are competitive, but I don't feel stressed out. For those who really want the difficulty factor, I am sure levels 3 and 4 will provide that. The game is fluid with a great framerate on a PS4 Pro, with fantastic graphics. Madden 20 looks brighter, more colorful, and more vibrant than Madden 18 or 19. The controls are tight and responsive, but not as good as the PS2 Maddens. I guess that is more realistic, but I like to have immediate control of the defensive players. Madden 20 is good enough in that department. Overall, Madden 20 is my favorite Madden since Madden 05, 06, and 07 on PS2, with obviously immensely upgraded graphics. I recommend it.
