KeySmart Classic | Compact Key Holder and Keychain Organizer (2-14 Keys, Blue) Ok, so I rarely write reviews, but I just have to on this one. Why? Because I find that the overwhelming majority of people who write bad reviews on this product are the same people who can't put together a ham sandwich. This product is ABSOLUTELY worth the money and the time. Read further! Ok, so here is the deal. We all look at the reviews to decide if our next purchase is going to be worth the money. I can tell you it IS! But you say, "OMG, look at all these horrible reviews!"....Ha, well, there is good reason for these bad reviews on this product that fall into two major categories. Read below! Here are the three most common things I have read and how I have debunked these as being hardly worth the negativity: 1) "Within days / weeks it broke! The screws, hardware have snapped...JUNK!" 1A) OK - Wow people. I can tell you EXACTLY why this is happening. Remember the people I said who couldn't put together ham sandwich? Yeah, these negative reviews come from them. Here's why! When you put together this product, you MUST use the little black spacers they provide to even out both sides of the brackets. WHY? BECAUSE, if you do NOT do this, it will create unnecessary tension on the screws. They are made out of a soft aluminum and will break if tension is applied for long periods of time. And why would you need spacers? Because you may have an un-even amount of keys on both sides, OR the keys are just different thicknesses. And there you have it! Make sure both sides are even, and you will have NO ISSUES. I PROMISE.I have had keysmart on my keyring for almost a YEAR with absolutely no issues at all. Still going strong. 2) "Not all my keys will fit due to different shapes, lengths, thicknesses". 2A) Ugh....Ok, yeah of course this product is not a SOLVE ALL for your keys. How could it be. They basically designed this product to accommodate the majority of key sizes and shapes. HOWEVER, this is where you have to think for a second before you buy. Look at your keyring, and look at the product. Does it LOOK like all your keys will fit from what the product pictures look like? No? Well, then you have to decide if you want to get it for the ones that DO fit and keep the rest on the ring, OR just not get it and be surprised when everything doesn't fit AND you don't have a ham sandwich to eat because you couldn't figure out how to open the package to get the ham out. At best, this product WILL WORK for all your keys. At WORST, this product will clean up your keyring some. 3) "It's a pain to get the keys to swivel out and I have to keep tightening it every month or so" 3A) - OMG THIS? Ok, seriously, we gotta kick these people out of the kitchen before they hurt themselves with a butter knife or something. In order to get the right tension, you will have to tighten to your desired torque level with a screwdriver or coin. Just simply tighten a little, and test. Also, YES since this is a screw based system, you will HAVE to give the screws a little twist every so often to keep everything good. Have I mentioned that you can use a COIN for this. It's no inconvenient. People....get out of the kitchen. You aren't safe there. OVERALL: I love this product. The only thing I hate is the fact that I didn't come up with it. But eh, whatever. Just remember, you get what you pay for, unless you can't make that ham sandwich. In that case, it'll always cost you a whole lot more. :) PS: Look at how nicely this cleans up my keyring from my pics. (also proof that I actually have these) :)

Ive used this key smart for 2 years and still holds up very well. I carry 7 keys and it keeps them organized and way more compact than a standard keychain. I’ve gotten multiple compliments and no longer have holes in my pocket from my keys. Only minor issue is some times screw gets a little loose but is easy to re tighten with finger nail.

The key holder comes assembled with a little baggy of spacer and longer screws. The factory assembled screw is intended to hold 1 to 2 keys per side. That's where the issue starts. The key holder disassembles into what can be termed top cover and bottom cover with the nuts to the holding screws. The nuts are short, only long enough to hold 2 keys and 2 spacers. To put in more than 2 keys, you basically have to hold the keys in position while trying to put the top cover on with the longer screws. It is not too bad on one side but then you have to repeat the process with the second side. The assembly process can be a bit frustrating trying to line up 3 or 4 keys per side to reinstall the top cover. Took a couple of tries to finally finish the reassembly. once it's all together though it works well. After a couple of weeks, the keys are still holding strong in position. It is compact and not too thick. I put a spacer between each key, which helps with both making the keys easier to spin out and locking everything position.

Addendum: So I'm adding a star to my review, here's why... My Keyport is about two (2) years old and my KeySmart is a year old. Keyports are plastic, and I just have experienced the longevity of Keyports. For those who don't know, Keyports work in this way: - Print a form from Keyport - Take pictures of your keys, upload to site, and order the blank keys - Take the keys to a key maker, and have the Keyport keys cut [Basically, you're making spares keys] - Then insert Keyport keys into the Keyport. Standard Keyport only holds six (6) keys. Advantages of Keyports: - Small as a 9v battery - Ideal for those who don't have/need to carry so many keys Disadvantages: - Extra steps to getting keys and leaving you with spare keys. - You pay a lot for the Keyport - You pay more for the specialized Keyport keys - You pay a specialized key maker to cut the Keyport keys - Plastic and breaks easy, which is what happened to me... All of these (dis)advantages are the reasons why I love the KeySmart brand better than the Keyport. And, one more awesome reason that I love it (Keysmart) is that they partnered with Tile to have an integrated KeySmart shaped Tile that is rechargeable and stays charged for 3-months. (Tile is a Bluetooth and community-based support system to help find stolen/misplaced/lost items.) Advantages of this KeySmart: - Just used the original keys - Silent - Compact - Price is cheaper - Metal (so it'll last longer) Disadvantages: - deploying the keys are slow, but practical ============ Original Review: August 30, 2016 - 3 out of 5 Stars The Keyport brand is still better in the deployment of the keys, but this thinner in carrying keys. I have this key my backup keys for guest and other rarely used function. The key holder itself is cheaper than the Keyport brand, and it doesn't requires you get special sized keys made for the holder--thus saving money. If I remember correctly, I had spent about $50 for an used Keyport holder and 5 keys (holds 6) (saving me about $25 buying it new). With this KeySmart holder, I just spent $20 for the holder (for the 2-10 keys holder). I don't see how with what it came with that I can hold anymore than 4 keys, and that is a tight fit. I will have to pay an additional $8-10 for the expansion pack to add more keys. Which is still cheaper than the KeyPort. I have forgotten my keys in my home clothes the next day changing into my work clothes because I carry a set keys for the house even when I'm home doing nothing, so having a second set of keys in a holder is convenient. In addition, I like consolidation and really don't like having too many keys, but what I do like is having a compact and silent set of keys and this is a great option. Three stars for: CONS - misleading number of keys that this holder can hold with just the basic purchase - deploying the keys are slow, but practical PROS - Thinner, - Cheaper, - With the expansion pack, you can hold a lot more keys than the Keyport brand.

I decided to try the KeySmart Classic because I was absolutely tired of carrying a bulky ring of keys that jingled with every step and constantly poked holes in my pockets; the Swiss Army style design seemed like the perfect solution for a minimalist pocket carry. Out of the box, the first impressions are mostly positive. The aircraft grade aluminum frame feels premium and sturdy, and it creates a noticeably slimmer profile that fits cleanly into your pocket. However, the assembly experience is quite on the hard side and requires a lot of patience. Balancing the keys, the backplate, and the tiny black spacers all at once while trying to tighten the screw can be incredibly frustrating. The secret to making it work is placing the spacers strategically so both sides are perfectly even; otherwise, the tension will be off and your keys will not fold correctly. Once it is assembled properly, it fits just fine and works well to some extent for standard house keys. While it is advertised to hold up to fourteen keys, that capacity is quite misleading. Realistically, it is only comfortable with about six to eight standard flat keys. If you try to add more than ten, or if you have thicker keys, it quickly becomes problematic and bulky. It does include a loop piece for attaching car fobs, which is a necessary and helpful addition. In daily use, the noise reduction is fantastic, and deploying a key feels smooth if the tension is dialed in perfectly. Unfortunately, the long term durability is where the product really struggles. On more stubborn doors that require extra torque, the overall build quality simply does not hold up well. Because the entire system relies on two small screws, they naturally work themselves loose with regular use. I might not see this lasting much longer than six months before the hardware fails, and it absolutely requires monthly retightening to ensure your keys do not suddenly scatter across the floor. Overall, the KeySmart Classic is a great concept that requires a bit too much maintenance. If you only carry a handful of standard keys and do not mind tinkering with the screws every few weeks, it is a decent purchase to clean up your pockets. However, if you have a lot of keys or encounter heavy duty locks on a daily basis, you might want to look for a more robust solution.

This comes with the Keysmart itself along with an expansion kit if you have more keys. It’s a well built titanium frame with two screws and spacers to hold the keys. The trick to getting this set up correctly is strategically placing the spacers. Take some time and try different configurations if your keys are misaligned or they are colliding with each other when you close them. Also, make sure your pivot is spaced evenly on both sides. I was able to get the keys to deploy as if I’m using a flipper on a knife. Then, I can swing the one I want completely extended to use in a lock. Another good idea is to make a Sharpie mark in the slot of the screws and one on the frame so you can see if your screws are rotating with use. I don’t want the keys to be very tight, so the screws are just snug. Naturally, they may slightly loosen with time. But, once I decide which keys I’m leaving in it for the long run, I’m going to apply blue Loctite and that will resolve any loosening issues. All in all, this is a nice key holder. The titanium looks great, it’s built well and it’s super compact. It takes a little practice to set it up right, but there’s a link included in the package where they’ll show you how to assemble it. Good buy.

Love this product but it is pricey for what it is. Good instructions and videos on how to assemble. Using a paper clip to align is genius! Takes getting used to as the keys are no longer loose and dangling individually to fit into tight spaces. You cannot put colored key caps to identify your keys and may have to color your keys with a permanent marker instead. One thing good about it is that in time, you end up remembering which key is located in their respective side and order. Even to the point you can pick our the keys in the dark without the need of a light. One problem I have that I'd like to share - I'm using this key holder with the same chevy fob as pictured in the example. Often times I find my car getting locked and unlocked unintentionally when the keys are in my pocket. After further review, I noticed the key holder is pressing agains the buttons when sitting in my pocket. The best way to fix this is to put another item on the keyring to act as a spacer between the holder and the keyfob. Can be a bottle cap opener, key tag, or another keyring. I know it is defeating the purpose of the key holder keeping the keys in an orderly fashion to minimize the space in your pocket but thats what does the job.

This is an amazing device if you don't like keys poking into your thick from your pocket, or if they get caught on things inside of your purse (as I would imagine would happen). The KeySmart neatly lines up your keys and holds them within the confines of the two face plates, preventing them from spinning around and making noise, and it also makes finding your key a lot easier. They come with a bunch of different accessories that you can buy off of their actual site like USB phone chargers, bottle openers, lights, and lanyards, but the basic expansion pack up to ~10 keys has done my key situation wonders. I love this product, but it doesn't get 5 stars because the durability is not quite that of a well seasoned, actively tested product that is supposed to be used multiple times a day. My personal preference is to tighten the screws fairly snugly (these keep the face plates on and squeeze the keys so they don't jingle around). However, the screws seem to be the weak point of this product, as I had to order a second one after the screws in my first one snapped. Now you can buy new replacement screws off their website, unless what happened to me (and a couple other people, see the person's review that included pictures) happens to you - the threaded end of the screw broke off inside of the opposite side, preventing me from pushing out the broken piece and rendering that plate useless. And you can't buy the back piece that receives the screw off of their website - no, you can only buy the screw. For $3. So now it is more economical for me to buy a completely new one than try to contact customer support and see if I can get it fixed or replaced, when Amazon Prime allows me to get the exact one for less than their site in only 2 days. So be careful when screwing the pieces together, because the screws cannot handle much more than finger-tight. TL;DR - amazing product that I love and is extremely useful, but don't over tighten the screws or else you will snap them.

This is going to be a two part review: 1) Keysmart compact holder for 2-12 keys ( http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00JXQQRJ0?redirect=true&ref_=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1 ) 2) the Vagany keychain pocket tool GJ023D ( http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00S4V2XDE?redirect=true&ref_=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0 ) 1) i am impressed by the keysmart. after reading a few reviews claiming quality and durability issues i decided to go with the aluminum model instead of the titanium which i was originally looking at. that was a mistake. i should have gone with my first choice. under normal use and installation i cant see how people would encounter any issues relating to the product. i am 100% satisfied. the build quality is excellent, installation was easy, and keysmart delivered on all their claims. 2) this is actually much better quality than i was expecting. i purchased it specifically to go with my keysmart and was not expecting much. however, it is well build and quite strong. i would not hesitate to use it for some light prying. now for why this is a two part review. my intent for these purchases was to organize my keys yet still maintain the functionality i had with my attached keychain multitool (not the one in this review). instead of attacking my old multitool to the keysmart via a normal key ring i looked long and hard to find a product which i could install inside the keysmart. after quite a while looking i ordered both these products. despite the fact that they were in no way made to be used together they are almost a perfect match. the loop on the top portion of the multitool makes a perfect replacement for the included keysmart loop, the width of the tool is only slightly larger than the overall width of the keysmart so i am adding minimal bulk. and the length is almost perfect for the compact keysmart (it is about 1mm too long so there is some very slight rubbing between the tip of the tool and the spaces on the opposite end of the keysmart. the hole through which i installed the tool on the keysmart isnt perfectly centered in the tool so it does extend slightly on one side. however, these are very minor flaws in the system as a whole. these two products are almost made for each other. Now my plea to keysmart: PLEASE MAKE A TOOL OF YOUR OWN! with a little tweaking this would be perfect. some things i would like to see for an in-house solution would be: - make it that 1mm shorter to fit the compact keysmart perfectly. perhaps make a longer version for the extended model as well - keep the ruler on the sides (you guys already have the ability to laser engrave already for the marking), bottle opener, and wrench - the two flat portions on the tip can be used for standard or even phillips screws. the only change i would make here is the smaller of the two flat portions make into an actual phillips screwdriver - on the tip between the screwdrivers instead of whatever that is put a small rope cutter in there. - remove a bit of material between the circular hole towards the top and the upper loop to make them a bit closer. also center the hole so the tool would not extend more from one side of the keysmart - that teardrop thing i honestly dont know what it for. whatever. i have attached a couple photos as well.

Very ergonomi, keeps the keys organised and neat in my pocket.

Great little gadget for storing common keys. Unfortunately if you have large bulky keys they do not fit, so you have to use a ring attached to this to carry these keys. If you only have common household keys, then I would highly recommend this.
