One of the best scanners and mouse !
I'm very happy with this mouse-scanner. It combines a very smart hardware/software COMBINATION. It performs a fast and accurate OCR as well when it is needed ... and automatically... and in the background ! The only drawback is the "Scan-on-off button" place: It should be in ANOTHER place because when you grasp this mouse with your hand it enters in the "scan mode" when you DONT WHANT TO DO SO !! Wonderful scanner
I’m a teacher and it is great to have this scanner. I can scan either text or pictures to make worksheets or tests for my classroom. I’ve recommended this so many times when I’ve attended meetings or gone to conferences. I actually have three - one for school, home, and traveling. It does a great job scanning. It did take me a couple of tries learning how to move the scanner the first couple of times but it is so easy after you master it.

LG Scanner mouse
This is an amazing product. The mouse is a little bulky but the convenience is great. You can scan in travel receipts as soon as you get them and not having to hold on to them or lose them. I use this product in conjunction with shoeboxed which is a receipt tracking and hosting service in the cloud.

Will no longer work
Back in 2016 through May 2019, I purchased two for my computers. Both worked with no problems. I updated my one computer to the latest Win 10 software. I now receive an error message "The procedure entry point FinishOVDXDriver could not be located in the dynamic library C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Smart Scan\OVBaselF.dll". Whatever that means. I searched, there are not any updated files for scanner. I can not find any mention of the scanner on LG's website. Look for a different one as this one is not being supported. When looking at the reviews notice how old they are. It used to work great. It no longer does. I am looking for a different one. LG no longer supports this nor will they respond to requests.

Great concept ... but not for everyday use
First off; the scanning works very well, even on a Mac (MacOS X Mountain Lion). Unlike those old handscanners, this scanner really stitches your scan together very well, in a very good quality. Just keep in mind that lifting the mouse during scanning is a no-no. Unfortunately; this mouse is [for me] not a mouse I'd want to use on a daily basis. It feel very uncomfortable (I prefer mice like Logitech M510) and unnatural. Having said that; setup was a breeze, and getting used to the way you scan a page is easy. In the end I guess it depends on what you're looking for. Are you looking for an easy to use handscanner: I really can recommend this product. Are you looking for a handscanner that is also a daily use mouse: I cannot recommend this product, as a mouse it fails.

Does the job, but often with hesitation
This is a unique product. It functions as a mouse, but also as a portable scanner when used with a laptop. The image resolution is very good and it is easy to use. When scanning at the edge of an image, particularly the edges of a book or magazine, the scanned image tends to get partially rotated. When that happens, I have been unable to get it straightened again and have found the easiest solution is to end the scan and start over, again. Overall, I am happy with this product. I bought it for my wife to use to scan magazine and newspaper articles and sections of catalogs. Seemed like a better solution than having little pieces of articles torn out and stored in an unrecoverable manner (like stuck in a box). Because of the inconsistency of the edge scans, it is not getting much use.

Best handy scanner!!
This scanner is so nice. I really like easy function. I usually use iphone to take picture and use apps to make scan image but this scanner solve all hard work. I recommend this scanner to anyone want to make easy scan.

Okay scanner for flat 8.5 x 11 sheets... for larger thick books, forget it.
I bought this scanner because I wanted to scan book pages from recipe books, music books, etc., some sizes larger than an 8.5 x 11. I found that scanning books with smaller (.5) margins were impossible to scan without some excessive work at keeping the sensor on the page and any shift in position caused the scanner to start scanning at a different angle instead of straight. I also found that if you try to scan anything larger than letter-size pages, the scanner memory will run out before you've finished scanning the item, making stitching impossible because when it reconnects to the page, you find you have to start all over. I agree with other reviewers about the cord. The cord is covered in rubber that grips the paper and moves it when you're trying to scan. Nothing can be done about it, other than taping the corners of the sheet to the table surface. It's a huge annoyance. The bad thing is, the cord is positioned level with the scanning surface, so it literally skips across the surface while you scan. A better design would have been to make the cord position higher on the mouse so it doesn't skip across the page along with the scanner and to cover it with a smooth-gliding plastic rather than gripping rubber. Not sure which one of LG's rocket-scientists made that call, but it doesn't work, which is surprising for an LG product. Most LG products are great. This one is not. Further on that subject, you will find NO support for this product on LG's U.S. site. You have to go to the UK site if you want any support or information on this product or to download the latest drivers and software for the product (if the autoupdate quits working within the software, which it does, sadly, leaving you to deal with failed installs.). For me, that kind of raises a skeptical eyebrow as to the reasoning behind the non-U.S. support. If you are scanning flat sheets, it does an ok job, but then flat sheets can be scanned with a regular flat-bed or page scanner better and more efficiently, so why spend money on something like this (unless space is an issue)? If space is an issue, you better keep tape nearby to dock the paper to the surface so the cord doesn't move it. And forget about any type of book scanning. Flatbed scanning is more efficient despite the dark spine sides. Needless to say, I'm really bummed that this product didn't work for my needs. It's not perfect, by any means.

Gently sweep the mouse across the page and the image underneath appears instantly on your monitor. There is some pixie software that uses reference points to straighten out any little kinks, it works really well on detailed images. The mouse functionality gets in the way a bit (accidentally pressing buttons), and I wouldn't want to use it as a mouse in case I damage/dirty the image capture screen. So I use it as a scanner for large antique books and it is great for a page at a time. Double pages with a fold in the middle are too tricky though (but I get as close to the edge as possible turning one page upside down and use Photoshop to stitch them together). It really feels like magic it scans so well. Better than using a camera as there is no perspective distortion. As you can guess, I love it.
