Simple, effective and no batteries or other costs
My cats were already used to the concept of the lid opening as they approach, so no training was required. I've had battery operated sensor lid feeders for a while but one stopped working. After considering getting the same model as a replacement I decided to try this instead. Apart from occasionally standing on the platform myself (limited space in the kitchen) it's perfect. I put a deep ceramic dish inside because my cat always licks the food over the top of a shallow dish. Easy to clean and no batteries required, simple but effective, especially in the recent heat - keeping flies out of the bowl. I'll be replacing the other battery operated dish with one of these too!

did not work
Although a well made, robust product, it did not function as expected. In order for the lid to open, my cat had to be positioned with her chest right up against bowl. Only then would her feet/weight be able to operate the lifting of lid. This was not a natural position, which completely defeated the object of her eating as and when she chose. Flies still laid eggs along the rim edge where lid and bowl meet with some eggs actually sitting on treat ledge. Sadly had to return. Will stick to my net food cover!

Best invention ever!
This is amazing, I am so dissapointed that they have been discontinued, had I have known I would have bought more. Can't find these or anything like it anywhere. Best idea and food dish for my cat, ever! Please tell me where I can get one. I have tried everywhere including eBay, Facebook, Groupon, all over, nowhere to be found. 😥

Good idea if your cat is amenable!
I went through the wedge stages but my cat still doesn't understand what he has to do - several weeks on and although he knows that's where his food is, he waits for me to physically pick him up and put him on the mat in order for the lid to lift - but it is keeping the flies at bay and that means his food lasts longer!

Does the job but build quality could be better
This definitely does the job. Our cat got to grips with in in a day or two. He will now go back to food he'd left and finish it off, which will save us a fortune. I like the fact it is mechanical and therefore has no need for batteries or to be plugged in. He got a little frustrated with it at the start and tried to chew and scrabble his way in from the side. If he hadn't worked it out I think he could quite easily have destroyed it - certainly he could have tipped it over. Only other down side is that the ramp is quite flimsy, and bends as he walks on it. This means the cat has to be quite close for the lid to open. Good product though and easy enough to clean.

Have patience 😂
Didn't think our cat would ever get the hang of this dish but with patience and helping him realise that it wasn't scary by putting treats sticking out slightly he finally got the hang of it. Because the food is covered it stays fresh and he eats it all instead of throwing loads out. Certainly not the cheapest cat dish out there but well worth it in my opinion 😁

not as good as I thought
Training blocks do not work very well and lid kept falling on cats, wouldn't recommend

No flies on this!
This is a great product particularly for the summer months when there are lots of flies around. It was very easy to train our cat to use it, using the training wedge, and it took him just under a week to get used to it. Now he knows exactly how to open it and it works brilliantly. We are really pleased with it.
