I love this little fan!
I'm using this to cool my laptop. But it makes for a nice breeze if you have it on your desk as well.So I tried two cooling pads for my laptop, which tends to overheat. They were pretty weak. Decided to see if I could buy a fan that runs off the usb port, and it's stronger than the cooling pads. The first pad was a targus branded one, which not only did not cool enough (I realized later that one of the fans wasn't spinning), but also damaged the usb port I had it plugged into. The port no longer works. Other reviewer seemed to mention this as well. The second was a cooler master. The pad is built like a tank! Very strong, nice angle. My laptop tended to slide off (resolved by using glue gun to put dots on the bottom of the laptop that made it "sticky"). The downside was that the fan barely did anything.I realized that the usb ports are only 5v, and most cooling fans for computers are 12v. So I guess that's why cooling pads aren't strong enough. This little fan gives off enough of a breeze via the usb port, but it came with an adapter and a 6ft? long cord so it may reach an outlet if you prefer. It's really quiet. The rubber feet on the stand really help dampen the noise, it will vibrate if the metal touches anything. The blades are foam, which means they won't hurt you or curious animals. The fan spins 360 degrees on the axis, you can point it almost any angle. Ideally I'd have it close to the table blowing away from a vent on my laptop, but I can't get it to do that easily. So I have it blowing at the vent and across the keyboard which seems to help. The touch sensitive button is a bit hard to get to work, but it works well enough. It may take a few taps but it will register.

A 21st Century 'Bauhaus' Design - Awesome little fan! :D
This fan (Wire-Chrome/Black model SBM1-SI USB) only just arrived today, so this review can't attest to long-term at the moment, but at first impression, it's very cool. It's well packaged, and comes with an instruction booklet and warranty information in a number of languages. Seems to be reasonably sturdy and well built, and operated instantly out of the box. The Hi-Lo-Off touch-sensitive control is easily accessible and requires no additional pressure to operate.Upon first run, it had some mild squeaks when aimed at certain angles, but I figured it's really never been run before, so maybe it just needed a few minutes to 'break in' so to speak. A couple minutes did it, and it's now been running at various angles with nothing more than the air noise - and even that isn't really loud. For as small as its wingspan is it moves a surprising amount of air.The design is really nice, industrial, and simple, yet interesting and classy looking - totally a Bauhaus aesthetic. It really is a little work of art that belongs in MoMA.The chromed steel wire base/frame is probably about 10 AWG, and welds are clean and straight. Its pivot is easy to adjust, and plenty snug to hold it in place. Its style appears to be modeled after the old 'triangular' base floor/wall full size fans, so hanging it on a wall would be as easy as anchoring a sturdy cup-hook for it.So far, everything's great! Will update long term when it gets there. In the meantime, I'm ordering a few more to gift.

Cute for the price
It's cool looking, and it does move air. It's not silent but it is relatively quiet. If you're in a quiet office, it will be easily heard. With ambient noise...you'll probably not notice it.Better for looks than function. The center shiny hub is not balanced so if you're nit picky, you'll wish you spent more for a balanced fan. If a tiny wobble doesn't bother you, it's great.Control is easy...seems to be a heat sensitive button so firm press for a sec and it starts at high speed, goes to low speed, then back to off.Worth $15. Would not pay over that though...

Super cute little fan, perfect for my desktop!
I love this little fan! It looks so cute on my desk at work. It is very lightweight, and very quiet. It looks like a little airplane propeller, which just adds to the fun of it. It's not just a fan, it's a cute little conversation piece. People notice it and comment on it. The quality of it is very good. The cord is a generous length. The two speeds are nice, the high is high enough, the low is good for a more gentle breeze. This is not the fan for you if you are looking for something high velocity. This is the fan for you if you are looking for a nice breeze to keep the air moving around you without making a lot of noise and blowing everything in your office all over the place. It's small enough to be unobtrusive and doesn't take much space up on your desk. I'm female, but anyone would like this I think. It would definitely make a cute gift, the box makes a nice presentation for a gift.

Looks cool, but…
Just doesn’t move any air.First thing I noticed was that it is very out of balance, as others have noted. Mine was quite though until you set it on a surface. Due to the imbalance, it would make noises by vibrating the cabinet/desk on which it was placed. The touch control is cool, though there is no real positive feedback when it changes from hi to lo.All that being said, I will be sending this back because it just doesn’t move any air. I’m not sure why mine seems to be different from many of the others who say it does move a good volume air. This one certainly does not.I rated it 3 stars for looks, touch control coolness and quiet. Just doesn’t move enough air.

sharper image fan is a winner
just opened my 4th fan from sharper image - best packaging ever. the fan performs EXACTLY as expected and looks fabulous. i use them for different purposes in my home, e.g. computer, near pup, kitchen near stove, etc. i got rid of my 4 previous small fans because they were loud and impossible to keep clean. not these bad boys, super quiet, effective and no metal grate surrounding blades. i love them, one of my best purchases yet on amazon.

Vibrates
Do not buy! Size was smaller than expected and it vibrates really bad......I can hear it when it is sitting on my table. This is very unfortunate as I had a larger fan made by Sharper Image and it worked great for 4 years but that fan is no longer available

Excelente producto!

Well designed product
Having owned a number of USB desktop fans over the years, this one is my favourite. I mainly use it on the low setting which produces a light breeze and very little noise. The high setting becomes needed during the brutal summer heat where the noise is more noticeable but still reasonable.Other similar products I've tried on Amazon have been either louder, move around because of light construction, or produce next to no air. This is one avoids all those pitfalls. My only criticism is the finicky touch control on the back, would have preferred a simple switch.

Compacto, discreto y util

Brilliant Beautiful device
Wonderful smart thing ! ............ Don't expect ( as others have ) for your hair to blow straight back . It is a USB fan for goodness sakes . It is a gentle quiet tiny machine and does precisely what it is made to do . I Love it .

A great mini fan with soft blade
The fan has been running in my plant room 24/7 since June for the purpose of consistent air movement. I looked at many mini fans to find a suitable one based on the criteria I had in mind.1. low profile /minimal look2. safe for being around plant (no sharp edges)3. reasonably pricedMy initial experience was 3 stars because the fan doesn't stay in fixed position when it is standing as shown in the product description photo. the legs have black rubber to help the fan being not moving but the vibration from the fan rotates and changes the position continuously. So, I ended up adjusting the fan angle so it stands with the body. It stays put this way and the amount of air flow is impressive. The blade is stiff yet bendable. It is spoft enough that yout finger is safe even if you touch the spinning blade. You can easily stop the fan with your finger. The metal frame is solid and have a good weight. The small body doesn't block the air flow which is surprisingly strong for its size. If the fan stands as designed 5 stars would be given.
