There was Not Char Cloth with this and does Not tell howto make it, and the Instructions are on the back of the boxand they covered 80 % of it with a White Blank Label.other than this it is well made

Very nice. good value
Excellent quality for the price. The fire piston is obviously the star of this kit and is very nice quality, a tad smaller than I thought it would be but that's a good thing so its easily packable. It took a few tries to get it to work but I found if you just lightly roll the end o-rings in the provided grease that seems to make it work pretty well. I haven't tried stuffing the end full but I think you shouldn't stuff it all the way with the provided char cloth. I am not sure of this, however. Also wondering if it would work with sawdust or wood tinder but I haven't tried this either but I imagine it would. There's plenty of room left in the tin for additional items like a pocket bellow, a lighter, fatwood, a ferro rod+striker and a tiny knife. All-in-all this is an excellent purchase and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a fire piston. This kit now has a permanent spot in my camping/bugout bag and I might buy another later on to put in my truck for extra fire making equipment. The only con I can think of is that it didn't come with instructions. This wasn't an issue for me as I have already seen demonstrations online of this tool. Just grease up the o-rings a little bit and give it a good slap and you should have a coal going. It might take a few tries but if you're persistent then it shouldn't be a problem. Another possible thing is that you may want to add some kind of grip tape to the piston where you pull it out, it's slightly slick and I imagine if your hands were sweaty or wet it might become difficult to take the rod out but as of now it's not an issue for me.

It works, but...
So, was excited to try this. I am in the process of writing a Practical Prep article on making fire under different conditiions given different levels of preparedness from having planned ahead, to having nothing. Fire is essential to survival, and most overlook this in their preparations for emergencies. First, it does work, although because the product tolerances are so low, it was not easy to do so. You really have to add a lot of lubricant to help seal it, and make sure the top is very tight. These means that in addition to having a limited supply of carbon cloth (which ignites in the device to become your ember), you have to make sure you have grease to make the seal. You do get plenty, and a supply of o-rings which will eventually wear as well. You also get a supply of a canvas (why, i'm not sure), as well as some stuff for great tinder (in case you don't have some available). So, the kit is complete and has everything you need if in the wild. The drawbacks of this are that you will need some strength to make this work, and if you don't get a good seal, you won't get an ember from the heat caused by the sudden air compression. Finally, I wasn't real impressed with quality. The tin it comes in was dinged from stuff not being properly packed (I re-packed it in the photo, so it would fit better), and the base part had a flaw, which detracts from the appearance but not the function of the device. I only buy the best, when I shop for survival equipment, and this just detracts from my confidence in the product, confirmed with the lack of tight tolerances, and good seal without extra grease. But, it might just be that with the kinds of pressure and rate of change, it's the only way it will work. As a means of start a fire, while it works, I would say there are a lot more reliable ways, with no moving parts that take less energy to accomplish. But it is kinda cool. If it works without carbon cloth (e.g. with random tinder) then might be a tool to have in your bag as long as you have access to grease. One feature I did like is that you can put more carbon cloth or magnesium rod inside the base.

Fun to learn
Are there better ways to start a fire? Of course there are but this is a rather fun contraption. It takes a little work to get the ember but it will definitely work. 1st make sure to lube the threads on the bottom cap. Next lube the Orings on the plunger. Don't be stingy in either spot. Then put a single layer of charred cloth in the end of the plunger. Now a good forceful plunge and you should produce an ember. Takes practice but it does work not 5 star worthy but a good solid piece of equipment.

Nice kit....needs some prep and practice
This is a nice fire piston kit. It's very sturdy, and I like that they give you extra O-rings, and some grease. The included fibers and rope are a bonus, and cloth with directions to use the tin to make char cloth is an extra bonus. Very complete...and thoughtful. You'll need to practice catching an ember, though.....work with it before you might need it.

No char clothes or paracord just regular
Plan to build a fire in your kitchen so you can finish the kit before camping! I didn't tested the piston jet. Plenty of extra o rings, just not ready to go. Box is banged up from the unsecured piston. Rush don't care ship it out...(If it is working still not a bad deal, just not ready to go)

Looks good But....
I have used a fire piston many times before. This one is well made and has a tight seal. The end cap is nice to allow pressure to be relieved and store well in one piece. I used a piece of my own char cloth (tested it and it lit 1st spark with a lighter.) I filled the end of the plunger and tried and tried and tried to get it to ignite. No luck :( Had good compression I tried this on solid surface and hit it hard completing the full plunge and pulling out quickly. I had high hopes because it looked so well built...but no go. I'll keep trying but until I master this I will use other methods to light the fire. I'll try it another 100 times then if it won't light I'll get a refund.

No char cloth
This did not come with the char cloth even though it it listed in the add. Even though it's the main component to start a fire with this tool. Even though it's listed on the boxes instructions
