4V MAX* Cordless Screwdriver with Picture-Hanging Kit (BDCS40BI)

I'm glad that I purchased this. I needed to replace a larger & nicer electric drill that during my move, the cord/charger was misplaced. This small set is just fine for my needs though. It has many bits that come with it but it does not have a flat head bit. I know those aren't used as much but I did need that recently but keep a regular set of screwdrivers on hand. It's small so it tucks easily inside of my small tool pouch/bag. I use this in my motorhome so it's easy to store away without taking up much needed space. I would recommend this to any one or woman needing something just small to use on occasion. During my use of tightening up all of the screws from my latest project, it did not run out of power. In fact, it was charged when I opened it and I have not had to recharge it yet. Impressive for something this small and inexpensive. It's a keeper for sure.

Wonderful tool. It's my 2nd one. The 1st one lasted so many years that I don't remember the year I bought it. Very high torque for the toughest jobs.

This is a handy item to have. I love that it swivels so you can change your grip. Works great.

This screwdriver is compact and easy to use. I like the magnetic quick change bit connector and magnetic spare bit holder. The bits simply slide in and out, no tightening or pressing down on a release spring. Having the spare bit held at the top of the drill is smart as well. It is noticeably weaker than the worn out 7.2v drill/driver this replaces for me, however as just a screwdriver it still has adequate power for most any task and is an acceptable trade off for the smaller form factor. The standard micro USB charging port is huge bonus - one less proprietary DC adapter to have laying around. Also comes with a small kit containing extra bits and picture hanging hardware. I am docking it one star for these two design issues. 1) the rotation selector switch is too close to the hand grip. It is easy to bump into the middle position (which then disables the trigger) while trying to use. 2) there is no physical on/off switch for the light; it comes on and off with the screwdriver trigger. I am sure this is a battery saving feature so you don't forget to turn it off and drain the battery, however it makes the light rather useless because you need to have the light on as you are lining the bit up BEFORE you start turning it, not after.

Far and away my favorite tool purchase in years. Got this for my new, high-end DYI computer build, and not only did it speed up the total build time greatly, but saved me much pain and aching from all of the hand twisting I'd have done using a manual screwdriver. The hex fitting accepted all of the hex-shafted driver bits and extensions I purchased separately, and I used both the pistol and straight configurations without issue. Trigger is nicely positioned too for straight orientation. Unit arrives with a small charge on the battery so you can get right to work if need be. Like the charge indicator LED's as well as the forward light that shines on the bit tip when trigger is depressed so you can see what you're doing in poorly lit places. One small complaint is the screw direction selector switch. This is placed well for easy thumb or index finger push to reverse direction as need be. However, the switch has very low force resistance and because it's close to thumb/index finger, very often is accidentally pushed out of place, either killing the trigger (middle position) or reversing direction from the one intended. Really needs to be fixed in future upgrades to either require much more force to switch OR simply place it elsewhere further away from the hand. I would much rather tolerate the very minor inconvenience of using my free hand to switch and lock the turning direction where it will STAY until I purposely choose to change it rather than endure constant frustration from it slipping out of lock due to the way it's currently designed. That single issue, however, is not enough IMO to remove a star. Fix that, B&D, and you may well have a PERFECTLY designed tool here. As it is, though, it's pretty darn great and is a great value at the current price point. BUY THIS ONE!

This tool is fantastic! I order a lot of things on Amazon and Ikea both and this is fantastic at helping me put things together. The instructions always say to not use a drill, and while I do have a drill, it's heavy and not useful for jobs requiring less spinning force. This is perfect as I can easily control the speed and force and it doesn't strip or overtighten the screws on the assemble-yourself type furniture. You do have to be careful and go slow at the beginning and end, but it really speeds up the process without wearing on my hands. The light is actually really helpful too as much of my furniture and accessories are dark and the light lets me see better in the corners. The pivot function is very handy and works really well. It takes a little bit to figure out to do it one-handed, but it is doable. One of my favorite things is the charging light. I can tell at a glance when I need to charge it, which may be never as I've been going for days with it :)

2016 - 2026 , 10 years around the house! Honestly my only complaint is still the fwd/rev switch is too easy to bump. I also have the Dremel HSES-01 screwdriver and its trigger easy to inadvertently press, Most designs have a flaw. The best cordless screwdriver I’ve owned is the 8v Dewalt DCF680N2 but Dewalt stopped making it and replaced it with a far inferior 4v machine. Used & old stock DCF680’s are selling for a fortune! Here’s my original review from 2016 that still holds true. No it's not perfect but at this price point it exceed my expectations. Very solid straight to 90° pistol lock. All metal drive case. Rubber padding around nose of case. Battery status light. Trigger actuated LED headlight. Standard micro USB charge port. Magnetic and mechanical bit chuck. High capacity Lithium ion 4volt power cell. This was my first Black & Decker purchase in probably 30 years. Bosh Makita Dewalt & Milwaukee have dominated the market but not long ago SKIL & Black & Decker were the leading contenders. I own two homes and several vehicles & I'm always doing upgrades or maintenance so I use this frequently. It uses a Lithium ion battery, believe it or not there’s products using NiCd or NiMh batteries. USB charge port, many devices require a unique charger. I already have enough adapters to keep track of. Switching from pencil to pistol was a key feature. At a desk working in front of you the inline form is natural, Facing a wall the pistol position feels right. I compared the specs of many other cordless screwdrivers this has one of the higher torque numbers. Again, My only real complaint is the forward reverse switch is easily bumped & changed. I'll probably use some epoxy with a filler to build up a little ridge around the selector. The cheaper version (BDCS30) has the direction switch on top but lacks the pistol to pencil feature. Also the bit kit is of little use and doesn't have a conventional (blade) style bit , but I certainly didn't make this purchase based on that. I strongly suggest the Purchase of a 1/4” to 4mm adaptor to utilize all the precision 4mm bits available from Wiha & ifixit. i find the torque good for small works like screwing and un-screwing some maintenance work at home and my motorcycle.

Has the power I need for the small job. Works great. Recommend for small light duty jobs.
