Does the box have everything to install both unit on 2 helmets?

Yes it does. Set has 2 of everything for install in 2 helmets.I bought this set months ago and absolutely makes riding with a passenger much more enjoyable. Chat, listen to music, make or receive a phone call, or sometimes she will warn me about a road hazard or cop up ahead.

Can the microphone be removed?

yes the mic, speakers, and battery are all individually removable but im not sure why you would want to

does it work with other Sena versions

Yes it works with all other sena versions. I have several variations SMH10 & SMH20 that both connect with this slim version without any issue
