Understanding Business with Connect Plus

Intro to Business Concepts...
Being somewhat of an entrepreneur, I decided to enhance my business background by taking an introductory course in business this Fall, 2011. This is the assigned text, and I prefer to get familiar with course materials as soon as published. Honestly, this text is not what I expected from an introductory textbook. It gives a solid overview of past and current business science. The online materials augmenting the text are impressive, and downloadable for the most part. The topics discussed in the text are pertinent and current to issues being experienced both locally, nationally, and internationally: Business Trends; Business Ownership; Business Management; Human Resources; Marketing; Financial Resources. The text is easy to read. It includes highlights of business personalities from the local, national, and international arenas, and why they are significant in the business world. The layout of the subject materials is highly organized and makes the taking of notes easy as well. The online materials are designed to augment the text by offering study aides that can be downloaded and printed including practice tests, case studies with practice tests, videos, and more.Overall, I find this text both informative and worth reading for anyone interested learning the foundations of business science regardless of whether it is for a college course or personal interest.Respectfully,Michael J. Book for a College Class
My husband had to have it for a class. I don't think he really liked it, but it is the book the professor chooses for this classes. I looked thru it a little bit and it seemed to be everything it is supposed to be, so I am going to give it the 5 stars. It is not the manufacturers fault my husband didn't like the book (I think it was really the class). BTW my husband got an A with this book he did not like, so it must have worked.

Well written, concise and up-to-date
This book was required for a business class and as it was just published (April 2010) it is very up-to-date, including the current recession. Chapters are compact, easy to read with good layout, and key points and terms are highlighted and easy to find. It would be a good book for those who want to consider being an entrepreneur but don't know what it entails and don't have time to take a class. The only drawback is Connect, the online compliment where you do homework and quizzes. They have some of the answers wrong and I don't believe they have updated it from the previous version... it just needs a bit of tweaking. I got the loose-leaf version (you put it in a 3-ring binder) but I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra for the hardbound cause I think I'll keep it after I'm done with the class.

A bit hard to follow but overall a great text
The text is actually a great, easy read without a doubt. The information is presented in a casual tone instead of the traditional, uptight and formal feel you usually get in a text. The only problem I have with the book is that there are tons of inserts in the chapter. How to be green. This person achieved their dreams. This company is awesome. Here's a lesson(s) learned. Here's a section summary. What did you learn?, and so forth... It's a bit much and tends to be pretty distracting when every other page has the chapter interrupted by another "pop-up" type message. Aside from that, I'd highly recommend it and find it to be a great tool for the class I'm in.

Easy exposure to the world of business.
The authors' goal in writing this textbook was to help men and women acquire the knowledge and skills that will help them get ahead in understanding and interacting with the business world. The authors wrote this book in a clear and understandable way, with real life examples taken from real companies. I would highly recommend this textbook to anyone who is interested in learning more about the world of business, and doing so at a lower financial risk than going into business without a business education. This 9th edition textbook is very similar to the 10th edition, which is a big plus for those looking for an up to date book on business at a low cost.

Great condition for just $5!
My professor actually wrote on our syllabus to get the 11th edition, however, he told us in person that he would rather have us buy an older edition for cheaper. It was was very well worth it! No missing pages, just some scratches and some writing, but it wasn't a big deal to worry about. Would recommend for future students who are looking into cheap textbooks!

I Read It For BUS101
This is a useful tool that is needed for an introductory business course if you wanna buy it used to save the difference. Don't get the lastest volume by date! Buy any previous edition like this one and save your money like I did!

Perfect if you plan to start your career as a nameless midlevel manager for a generic megacorp Not for new small business owner
This was a required book for some college level business classes I was taking because I want to start my own business. Unfortunately the classes, and the book, were not what I was expecting. Its not that the information was bad, they just talk too much about managerial styles, how to manage and organize a team of workers, the different departments and many aspects of mega-corporations and so on. While the information is fine, it doesn't help me. When I open my own business, the only employee I plan on managing is myself.
