Propper 1.5" Nylon Tactical Duty Belt

Super easy to use, don’t have to worry about wearing out holes on a normal belt. Super adjustable if you are in between sizes. It’s thin enough to be hid under your shirt and won’t bulge out like normal buckles do. Gets the job done and is very affordable.

One of those products you hate buying. Not because it's of poor quality or function. Not because it's unfashionable or aesthetically displeasing. You hate buying it because despite the reluctantly affordable price, it's still 10x more than it's worth. I debated on the ranking and in the end, I went with 5 stars simply because it does 100% what it is supposed to do and as advertised. I mean, what else would you like to know? It's the same nylon strap and buckle that's been on every backpack you had growing up or currently own. It's just.... yeah, it's a 1.5'' wide nylon strap with a standard/incredibly simple "buckle" (if you can even call it that) that exists everywhere. How is the quality though? Like virtually every single nylon strap made. "But I've had ones that broke..." Then you did something wrong. I've had to wear this working on cars (no scratches) as well as my EMS career over the last 8 years. Everyone in EMS uses this style of belt. How many people do you think manufacture nylon straps and how much different can you expect them to be? If you've had one of these belts actually break, you either had one with an existing defect (and should have returned it) or it was due to extremely excessive physical damage to the belt i.e. it was physically cut or hooked on something very sharp you pulled away from. Those of you who have tried cutting 100% nylon straps like these will know that they are extremely resilient. Not sure what else to say. Comparing nylon strap belts like these is like trying to find out which bottled water is "better." If you're the type of person that passes the generic cough syrup to purchase the brand name version at 3x the price, keep looking and spend away. If you're a wise consumer, you'll clearly see that this is one of those cases in which the cheapest option is the best option. *All that aside, if you actually let someone convince you their nylon strap is better and worth more, I happen to know a Nigerian prince that would love to talk with you. Medium is ~43'' long. I'm a pretty average person and if I put on some pounds I could potentially run out of room on this belt. Be safe and get a size up if you're concerned, you can always tuck excess away neatly.

I purchased two belts, Propper Tec 40-42 and the Tru-Spec 1.75 inch 40-42 belt. I already owned a Spec-Ops 1.75 inch belt that was a 40-42 I believe for about 6-7 years for daily use. I had to cut he Spec-Ops and both of the new belts for my 37 inch waist. I had to cut at least 8 inches off each belt so for sizing I should have purchased the 36-38 size, but there was no price increase and I wanted to make sure it would fit my expanding gut. Pro's: All belts hold tight and don't slip the Tru-Spec has wider spaced ridges so it really locks up tight. Con's: (IMO) I find the Tru-Spec and Propper Tac feel more flexible where as the Spec-ops is more rigid and sturdy even after years of use. With the new belts holding up like the Spec-Ops has is something I will have to see. Between the Tru-Spec and the Propper Tac the Tru-Spec is more rigid and feels tougher but it is 1/4 inch wider (closer to 3/16) than the Propper Tac. Do I feel the belts will fail and wear out sooner, I have no clue only time will tell after years of use and abuse. Final: The price is great compared to the big manufacturers and if they hold up then I will buy more because I am not happy with how my leather belts have stretched and "curved" plus they still leave marks when I sweat and wear light colored pants. I was satisfied with how they hold my CW close to my body and keep it tight. I still would like to purchase a "double layer" belt for "heavy days" that I need more support. Yep ladies us guys can use your terms for our uses and they mean something completely different. UPDATE: Jan 21 2015 I found the piece I had to cut off of the Spec-Ops belt from years ago it is 14.5 inches long and feels twice as thick and sturdy as both the Tru-Spec and Propper Tac belts do. I should maybe not have cut off so much as to that I only have about 4-5 inches of material left after the buckle, the two new belts I cut so they are longer. The Spec-Ops is way stronger as far as belt material, but the buckle does slip a bit before it gets a good hold. I took a real good look at it (it's at work) and it only has a very slight almost un-noticeable bow in the middle (back) nothing like my leather belts do. It seems to also have taken shape as to where I like the buckle so it is formed to that fit point. The issue is this, is it worth the double the price, I don't know. Would I buy the Spec-Ops belt again for double the price, YES I really like that belt. Will the Tru-Spec and Propper Tac hold up like it, I don't know. The other two are softer and feel thinner even though it may be by a hair and I mean it is hard to tell if the Spec-Ops is really thicker but it is heavier and feels like a piece of strap steel. I may need to clarify, I do not work for or get paid by Spec-Ops or anyone else other than the Federal Government. So this review is my sole uninfluenced opinion and only my own.

The length of the 36-38 belt is 122 cm (48 inches) from the tail to where it attaches to the buckle. Weight of the belt is 92 g. The belt is rigid, as advertised, and the buckle is sturdy.

I have owned a Propper belt for well over a decade. I retired as a LEO in 2012 and wore it for several years before that. It still looks good as new. I wear it everyday and everywhere. It gets sweaty from yard work but has never failed. I wear it to town for my jeans and to church every Sunday. It never stretches and never shrinks. It can go anywhere with the plastic buckle. Even in secure areas. And the slide buckle makes it infinitely adjustable. No holes to mess with. I’ve gained a little weight over the years and the belt is getting tight. I needed a new one. I was hoping to get another 180 Reversible belt, but Amazon didn’t have it in my size. This duty belt is thinner than the 180, but made just as good. I expect it will outlast me. (But I’m putting the 180 on my shopping list for when they get more.) They are incredibly inexpensive and durable. I highly recommend for the price and longevity. The one drawback… I ordered tan color. The tag on the belt says tan. It isn’t tan. Much more green than tan.

Buckle doesn't feel like it grips belt material very securely. I suspect it will slip as it starts to wear.

Good belt, but not much for holding up much more than your pants.

I purchased this belt to go with a buckle that is plastic rather than metal, in order to avoid scratches when working on my car. I do use a cover, but this is just an additional layer of protection. Overall a comfortable belt that fits well and holds my pants up. No stretch so far, and I've been using it for a couple months now. Very satisfied with this purchase.

I bought his type of belt originally to get through airport security as they have no metal within them. But after having these for several years, I find that they are far superior than most leather belts sold today. These are far stronger than leather and the belt buckle, although very plain is made of a strong reinforced nylon polymer. The durability is fantastic. These days, most so called leather belts are made of either a poor quality of leather, over tanned to make them soft or laminated with a type of cardboard. These newer leather ones in my mind are garbage. The ones made prior to 1980 were quite good and last for ever. The new ones are mostly junk.

This belt is identical to the 5.11 tactical belt. Only the price is better than tactical 5.11 .
