NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Eyeshadow Base Primer, White

I am very disappointed with how this product was shipped to me. I had one order consisting of 2 items, this NYX eyeshadow base plus another small plastic bottle item. Upon opening the box, I see that the screw cap of the shadow base has come off and there is no plastic film or protection or anyting covering the eyeshadow base. Since it shipped with the cap off, the product had dust and particles on it. This is a cosmetic product to be used on the skin, hygien should be the UTMOST importance. I cannot believe that there is no plastic protective film covering the product. How do i know it's not been used, returned, contaminated or whatever?? Totally disgusted and now I must waste time returning the item. UPDATE ON JUL 2011 - After I have calmed down somewhat about the condition in which the product was received, I am now ready to write a review about the actual product. I LOVE THIS STUFF. I got the white color...the nude was out of stock. The white is perfectly fine. A tiny bit of this product goes a long way. Some reviewer had said that the white color comes through but that's because too much was used. It is creamy and easy to apply on the lid and it creates a very nice base for eye makeup. It allows the true pigment of any shadow you use to come through while giving it staying power. I definitely recommend this product. teh product is 5 star, the shipping quality is 1 star.

Works well

I purchased this eye shadow primer in white; because I wanted my eye shadow colors to show up more vibrantly, and in hopes that they would resist fading throughout the day. The pot it comes in is really tiny, so much so that, with my fingernails, there is no way I could easily use my finger for application, which is a shame, because that seems to work best. I've read a lot of reviews about people using a concealer brush to apply it, but since I don't have a brush specifically for concealer, I tried using some eye shadow brushes. This didn't work too great because the product has such a greasy consistency-it would stick all over the brush bristles and hardly any would transfer onto my eyelids, it would have taken forever to cover my entire eye area that way! It's hard for me to say if it would work much better with another bristle brush designed for concealer, but I kind of doubt that it would. So far, the best way I've found to apply this primer is to use one of those sponge applicators that come with eye shadows. After I figured out the best way I could possibly apply it with what I had on hand, I placed it where ever I might put eye shadow, and then started applying some eye shadow. This product does make it a lot easier to do complex colorations, because it does a decent job of keeping everything in its place, and when I went to blend things, it blended just how I wanted it to. Any excess primer, that didn't have eye shadow on it once I was done, I either blended away, or removed with a Q-Tip. Once I was done, my eye shadow looked awesome, and was at least 2x as vibrant as it would have been without the primer! Unfortunately, about two hours later, I checked out my eye shadow in the mirror, and realized that all the eye shadow in my eye creases was gone. If I had my eyes open all the way, then everything looked fine, but closing them at all revealed mostly bare eyelids all through that area, all made super-noticeable by the vibrancy of the remaining eye shadow. I've never had issues with eye shadow "creasing" before, but I'm pretty sure that is what was going on. I've heard creasing can be caused by having oily eyelids, and given how oily this product is, I figured maybe that had something to do with it. Fortunately, after some more experimenting, I found that, as long as I rubbed the primer in really well, especially in the crease (so that it's less oily), it works perfectly. Seriously, my eyeshadow now lasts over 8 hours, with minimal fading or creasing. It's actually pretty amazing! I've even fallen asleep with it on, and woken up to have pretty decent-looking eyeshadow still. So, I guess the "trick" to this product is to make sure you don't use too much, and to blend it in well to prevent oily buildup. The only reason I did not award this product 5 stars is because it is so oily, I can't imagine it would be good for people prone to breakouts (although I haven't had any issues like that), and because the pot it is in is so tiny that it makes it somewhat difficult to use. Other than those two issues, I highly recommend this product! It is so much cheaper than similar products, and does everything I was wanting it to!

I was looking for a primer for a makeup look for Halloween. I didn't want to use that horrid grease paint, but I was going to a party as Jem (iconic 80s cartoon heroine) and needed the neon pink eye makeup. If I used just shadow, it was not bright enough, and faded quickly. So I purchased this the week before and have Amazon prime (thanks Amazon!) so I got it in time to try it out for a day or two. I will NEVER EVER purchase the primers from Sephora (Urban Decay, Sephora, etc) or M.A.C. after trying this. M.A.C. wanted about $40 for the primer plus the neon pink pigment. I am sure it works well, and I know it looks great, but that seemed really steep to me for just one night of wear. So I purchased a nice pink eyeshadow, and this primer and let me tell you....The white really brightened the pink, and it did not budge for at least 12 hours!!!! It was fantastic. I still use this or my e.l.f. primer for day-to-day wear with those lighter shades of shadow (since it is white), and will stick to it if I need to get more. Great product, and amazing price!

I like this brand, usually, and this product is ok, but in my opinion it doesn't do what is described in the Summary. The two reasons that I only gave it three stars are; first, the picture makes the jar look MUCH BIGGER than it really is (it's quite small, but you need very little, so not a big deal). Secondly, the MAIN REASON why I bought the white is because the description said it would "make your eye color pop!". In reality, it is hard to cover this primer (even with a very thin layer, and I use MAC, highly pigmented color on most days), and instead of my eye color "popping", in my opinion, and that of my family and friends, it just looks strange. I have found that if you put a little dab on the inside corners of your eyes (by the bridge of your nose), it does make your eyes stand out...the same way white eye shadow dabbed there does, for a lot less money. If you are looking for an eye shadow PRIMER (which I was), I STRONGLY SUGGEST GETTING THE NUDE COLOR, I WISH I HAD!!!

Sans cette base je ne me maquille pas. A en mettre légèrement sur les paupières , les couleurs de votre fard à paupières sont plus Clair et plsu prononcer , surtout pour les couleurs claires comme rose, jaune ou bleu. Dure très longtemps , et je le recommande fortement
