Not-so-hot knife
So I bought this for roofing repair, but it barely melts asphalt. Google the melting point of asphalt tar; it's pretty low. Kept the knife because it does a decent job of melting frayed nylon ropes, and is totally worth the price for this application. If you're not a rock climber or the like, you might bypass this knife.
