Perfect for Protecting Apples on Trees
We've been buying these for quite a number of years now. The quality and sheerness of the sock is perfect for protecting our apples from insects. Sometimes, you don't get a perfect 12 dozen socks in the box...it can be a few socks short.

They make excellent washing machine discharge/pump filters
My LG front loader ended up having one of the 'TurboWash' jets get clogged even though I had kept up with the regular maintenance described in the manual. It basically had a fibrous plug develop that was reminiscent of a blackhead. I checked the filter and was surprised at how large the filter holes were; they were basically as effective as a colander for catching lint.Growing up with my old top loader, I remembered putting a set of old panty hose on the discharge tube so the utility sink didn't get clogged. I figured I could try something like that, but needed something that was easily accessible and filtered the water before the stray debris got to the washer's pump or jet tubes. Enter the footie socks. This allows a significant amount of stray lint/hair to actually get filtered out while not impeding the water flow to the pump. What you see pictured is about a week's worth of laundry for a household of 3, washing every temp from hot to cold and with bleach/vinegar/hydrogen peroxide.I change them out when doing the monthly 'Tub Clean' cycle and haven't had a problem with a clog since. To put them on just pull them over the "back" of the housing so the toe part of the sock points inward toward the washer. Poke a hole in the toe of the sock and slide the hoop through the hole. Pull the ankle part of the sock taut and tie it in a knot like you're tying a balloon. Then hook the bottom of the hole in the toe onto the notches on the back of the filter housing underneath the hoop. This will allow the water to flow in but not be obstructed by the mesh, and if the mesh does fill up it will allow the same safety bypass already built into the housing.

Thin, but they do what they're suppose to do
I actually did not purchase these for using on feet. Some years ago, I was trying on shoes before I headed out on a road trip and as I was grabbing a foot sox some of them fell on the floor so I gathered them up and slipped 'em in my pocket. Fast forward: shopping's done, car's gassed up, & we're on the freeway where I pull out my knitting...ah, knitting!! Not really, I was fussing with keeping my yarn from skittering around the car. At a rest stop I reached in my pocket for some candy bar change & found the foot sox I'd put in my pocket earlier. Woo hoo, perfect! I put the yarn with which I was working in the little sox & problem solved...no more skittering about the car & even if it did this helped keep it mostly clean. They fit small & medium skeins & balls of all types of yarn, and as the skein is reduced the nylon footie shrinks with it. This brand , and this is the only reason I'm not giving it a 5* rating, doesn't have the bands of thin elastic that my first ones did so the top doesn't really close up the way I like it, but it works! I love that I can wind yarn on my yarn winder & wrap a footie sox around it, take it off & toss it in my bag & no other yarn fibers, crumbs or crap get stuck to it (as long as it's not soda or something else sticky & wet). Another thing is that I can still see what yarn it is :)

Not just cut and boxed, a finished sock
Our customers like this sock so much when they are trying on shoes, that they want to take extra home. The top is banded, unlike all the others, making it so easy to slip on.

I wasn't very happy with this product
I ordered two boxes of these socks. Both boxes were marked the same and looked the same from the outside. I actually ordered them to put over pears to keep apple maggots out. The first box I opened the socks were long and the weave on the nylon was looser than I expected. Many of them didn't have the toes actually sewn closed. For my purposes I just tied a not in the end, but if you were using them for socks, this would have been awful, and it was really the majority of the package that didn't have the toes closed. I wasn't very happy with this product. Then I opened the second box. The second box contained nylons that were a tight weave, reliably sewn closed, and were much smaller than the first box. The only thing I could guess was that I had received two different sizes, but I compared the boxes and they were exactly the same. I was thrilled with the quality of the second box. If I had opened and used it first I probably would have asked for the first box to be replaced, but I thought both boxes were the same until I actually had used all of the first box.

Perfect for apple maggot protection. Doubt if they would fit my feet...
I use these to protect my apples from 'apple maggot'.I slip one of these socks over the nickel-sized growing apple with a tiny rubber band...(bought here at Amazon, "Universal 18 Rubber Bands, Size 8, 7/8 x 1/16, 5000 Bands/1lb Pack").I go through a few boxes every year & they work great.I've done this now for 4 years, and we went from 10% usable apple crop to virtually 100% good apples.Pick off/thin all uncovered apples when you 'sock' your apples.Don't let maggot-infected apples fall and rot on the ground. Throw them in the garbage or maybe bury them very deeply in the ground.
