Cambro Food Storage Container - Classic Series Square - 6 QT (Quart) - Commercial Grade for Food Prep (Clear)

I like to buy in bulk but i also like to store in containers as opposed to the plastic or paper bag the product comes in. I bought a 10-lb bag of sugar and none of my 4qt and under containers could hold the entire 10lbs. I went online to try to find a product that clearly told me that it would hold either 10lbs of flour or sugar and then I knew I would be set. Long story short i couldnt find one. I had the 8qt version of this container that i use to brine whole chickens. I took the container down dumped the 10lbs of sugar into and it came up to just beyond the 5.5 qt line. Problem solved I now knew I needed to by a container that was at least 6 qts. Stores the sugar great. The container is very sturdy. There is more than enough room to get my measuring cup in there for a full scoop and sweep. Stores nicely as well. I am very happy with this container.

I've used Cambro for years in our businesses where food was part of the package, and also for catering when preparing meals for up to 400 people. My daughter uses a lot of Cambro products in her bakery. The quality is unsurpassed. I just ordered some other Cambro products today, and count on them to hold up to rough handling and repeated washings.

I like this container because its square shape takes up less space than the round 6 quart containers. It's nice see-through plastic, and cleans easily in the dishwasher. I got it to use as a dough mixer/storage container to use with Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day: The Discovery That Revolutionizes Home Baking . It's been great. The corners don't really stop me from mixing the dough, and it stores well. It's not big enough to allow a double dough recipe to rise, but it's more than big enough for their basic recipe. It fits on the top shelf of our fridge, taking up about one quarter of the space. Note that this version doesn't come with a lid - I bought the Cambro SFC6-451 Polyethylene CamSquares Container Cover, Winter Rose , but plastic wrap would also have been fine.

I've found these light, clear and sturdy containers to be indispensable for storing dry goods for baking. Scooping is a breeze and practically mess free. The Cambro lid is a good fit - albeit not an airtight one - which comes in handy when you make frequent visits for flour. If you like to cook for a crowd, you won't regret having these around as they are ideal for marinading or storing prepared foods such as salads and stews. A must for any caterer or serious home cook. Plus they are relatively easy to clean.

I make sourdough bread quite often and for the longest time I just proofed in the bowl I mixed in. However, it’s very difficult to gauge the exact amount of rise and as I moved along in my sourdough journey I realized I needed to get a straight sided see through container for this purpose. I make two or three loaves at a time and this cambro can handle a triple batch. I like the measurement markings on the side as it helps me visualize how much the dough has risen so I know when the bulk proof has completed. The dough comes out fairly easy without sticking. I highly recommend.

Don't know why I waited so long to get one. Years ago when I started to brine meats, I would buy large zip top plastic bags, hope they did not leak (from anywhere) and set them in a pan in them fridge. Then I would have to throw them away when done. Finally I gave in and bout two of these and they are so useful and convenient. Have had these for about 5 months now and they are holding up well. I bought: Cambro (SFC6451) Lid for 6 & 8 qt Camsquares® Cambro Camwear Polycarbonate Square Food Storage Container, 8 Quart (This does not come with a lid) Cambro 6SFSCW135 Camsquare Food Container, 6-Quart, Polycarbonate, Clear, NSF At the time I bough these they did not come with Lids so I bought 2. I highly recommend them. So far the 6 quart has seen at least 10 salt / sugar brines with misc spices for Whole Chickens, Boneless Pork Chops, and a Small Boston Butt. I will put about 2 quarts of cold water and ice cubes in the Food Container then use about 2 cups of water on the stove to dissolve the brine mixture. I then pour the hot brine mixture into the Food Container and mix well. The the Hot /Cold combination has not been an issue. Once the temp settles, I then put my item(s) to be brined in and add additional water if needed to cover. Then into the refrigerator. Have not put boiling hot water / liquids directly in an empty container so not sure how it would react. The containers are large enough that there is usually extra room at top if you need to put a weight in to hold down your items. The container cleans up easily with some liquid detergent and a soft sponge. The 6 & 8 quart units I bought do nest well for storage yet due to the slightly larger top section and tapper design, they do not sit fully down in one another. I can see many other uses for food prep & short term storage. If I had a need for more I would not hesitate to buy more of them.

I have seen this type of food container used by sourdough bakers and I was eager to try one out. I am pleased with the durability of the container and I am sure it will last a long time. The square shape makes it easier to fit in the fridge and the markings on the side of the container makes it easier to judge the change in volume of bread.

We make a batch of sourdough bread every week or two, and this container works great! We put it in the fridge with the dough for up to seven days, and then throw it in the dishwasher. The footprint that it takes up in our fridge is also nice - no more wasted space from round containers, plus we can stack things on top of the lid. I would highly recommend this product to a friend.

Its perfect for calculating when the sourdough or yeast bread has risen enough, except that it would be even better if the sides were straight. This would give a more accurate result.

Excellent containers that will last for years. Caution: the pictures are misleading as they show a lid in the photo but this DOESN'T come with a lid so if you need one be prepared to spend more

I liked the fast shipping and I use this for mixing my oils in soap making. Going to buy a bigger one also!
