How good is the rangefinder at picking out the flag - is it easy to get an accurate distance to the flag?

Not perfect but good enough. Depends on the background. Can be problematic with a dark background close to the flag. That said it's has good as my wife's that got a good review against bushnell. (I didn't get that model because you can't turn slope off). Accuracy seems pretty good based on my wife's model and Garmin gps. Got it for winter greens when GPS is no use.
