While I felt the first valve should never have failed due to such low usage, I finally broke down and bought the Type 1 X-low Output Valve replacement. The color was changed from the old one, and I wasn't sure about the numbers on it, but the old one cooked too hot anyway, so I opted for the "low" output one for a field test. Best $35 I have spent. After 4 years of staring at my grill hanging off my deck, I quickly changed the valve, added a 1# gas cylinder, and fired it up. What can I say about a perfect steak! Wish I had replaced this a long time ago!

This reduces the heat considerably on my Magma BBQ. It makes chicken much better than the stock valve. I've had mine on two trips in a class B RV and it is great. It does become sensitive to blow out if the wind is blowing over 15 mph. But placement can remedy that.

This is the control valve gas regulator that Magma should be shipping with all of their grills. While I am unhappy that I found it necessary to purchase this upgraded replacement, it is superior to the cheap regulator that came with my Trailmate Magma grill. The construction of the control knob is of much higher quality than that of the regulator that came with my grill.

Magma Products Type 1 X-Low Output Valve Regulator After chartering our boat, we found the original valve regulator missing. It's an essential part of the grill so we had to purchase another. Although still pricey, Amazon has the best price. The regulator has a tendency to leak a bit of propane if left hooked up to the small tanks so be sure to detach the tank when not in use and store it all in a well-ventilated space.

So regulator is perfect, but missing the 2 “O”rings that you need to seal the unit to the BBQ. I had some here, so I got it to work.

You MUST secure this regulator to the BBQ with a line of some sort, as it can be a bit loose connecting into the BBQ. If using over the water, it will eventually fall in, requiring a scuba expedition. Don't ask me how I know.
