Has anyone got this to work with Windows 10? If so, how?

I have gotten it to work, but currently it has an issue if my system is resuming from a sleep state. Go through the install procedure to set up the drivers. You should be able to get it working with LastPass or one of the other password managers. Once that is working, to set it up to work with Win 10, bring up the Start menu. I believe Settings will be third from the bottom, choose "Settings". When the settings window comes up, type "fingerprint" in the search box in the upper right. Then choose the "Set up fingerprint sign-in" item. This will bring up the accounts page, choose the "Sign-in Options" item if not already selected. To set up a fingerprint for WIndows log-in, first choose the item to setup a pin. (Yeah... I know you don't care about setting up a pin... but unless you do, Microsoft in their infinite wisdom doesn't give you the option of setting up fingerprint login.) After that, then you should be able to set up fingerprint log in, below where you setup the pin.

Will this read a finger regardless of which way the finger is oriented?

The P5100 reader will read your enrolled fingerprints within about 45 degrees of its original enrollment orientation.

Is there an SDK for this reader, or does it only work with proprietary software?

I am not sure. It comes with a mini CD with the software you need.
