Great sounding stereo at a great price
This little stereo packs a big sound! It is small, easy to move around and to travel with. It has everything I looked for at a low price. The radio works well, picking up many stations. The cd player played my home burned cd's as well as pre-recorded ones. I liked that it has an auxillary for connecting my phone to so I can play music on it through the stereo speakers. The headphone jack was great for when I wanted to listen quietly & not disturb anyone else. I liked this stereo so much that I re-ordered right away and bought 2 more for my sisters!

Delightfully simple
This CD player will not win awards for sound but if you're looking for a compact, basic sound machine, this will fit the bill. The simple, near-absence of digital controls makes it a great plug-and-play device for we of the technologically challenged group. There is no streaming, pairing, programming, or connection to WiFi. Just plug the thing in, set the desired sound source with the retro button on the side, adjust the volume and AM/FM radio frequency with the appropriate dial, or pop in a CD, and you're in business. Again, the sound will not blow your socks off. It's actually closer in sound to the old transistor type radios. There's no deep bass; there's actually very little of it and the overall sound could be described as "tinny." The sound is good, though, through headphones. A 5-star rating is admittedly high for a sound machine that doesn't put out the best sound. The ridiculously simple controls and functions, however, is delightfully refreshing and a welcome break from all the latest gadgets out there.

My wife is happy with it. Happy wife happy life!
It was a present for my wife. Mainly she plays CD's and she's happy with the sound and it work's well. If the radio reception was good I thought about buying another one for use in my garage but at this point I haven't had chance to bower it and see if it gets good reception in the garage.

Great Portable Radio/CD player
I purchased this to replace an older, worn out radio in my garage. This little unit picks up so many more stations than the old one and the sound quality is very good.

3 month warrenty and hot glue welding!!! Piece of junk, literally.
I bought this CD player even given the negative reviews, as I wasn't giving it to kids and it shouldn't break if I didn't do anything to it. Right? WRONG. The CD Play states it was manufactured September 2016. I bought it in November 2016. It died June 15th, 2017! This was a total life span of 9 to 10 months. I was listening the radio and the sound went off. I thought the radio station had stopped working, but it quickly became clear that it wasn't getting power. Given that it had never been dropped and it was less than a year old I called the manufacturer. The Jensen representative told me it is only a 3 month full warranty. Had I tried using batteries? After 3 months, you have to pay $20 for them to even look at it and possibly replace it or fix it. The CD player only costs $24, so this is a good deal for them. She was willing to send me a new cable in case that was the problem. I got the cable today and it wasn't the problem. The problem is the extremely poor manufacturing. No longer worried about voiding a worthless warranty I took the CD player apart and figured out why it is so cheap in cost and construction. Most of the internal parts look like they fell off of the back of a truck. They are scuffed and poorly made. Rather than weld the wires they used hot glue. (To make it easier to fix when, not if, it breaks?) I would say it was some sort of industrial "special glue," but if it looks, smells, and behaves like hot glue it probably is. It even has the little strings of glue between application sights. (See pictures.) At least three locations use thin cardboard to hold the parts in place. The motherboard does have some welding, but it is some of the worst I have ever seen and isn't uniform. I am no longer amazed that it broke within 10 month of manufacture. I am shocked that it survived this long. Even sitting on my desk must have been a strain for it. I suggest you don't waste your time, desk space, or your money on this items. If you bought it and it still works, it is just a matter of time.

For $34.00 I think you will be O.K.
For the $34.00 price, you get what you pay for: adequate volume with somewhat tinny sound and little bass as there are no treble/bass controls whatsoever. Surprisingly, when you do crank it all the way up (which doesn't get loud enough for my tastes, although it will fill-in decently for a small craftsroom/workshop bench area), I didn't hear any distortion whatsoever like so many other inexpensive players that distort very easily past 1/2 volume with the bass turned up. It plays commercial pre-recorded CD's and all of my CD-R discs (Verbatim brand has never failed me) that I burn with Windows Media Player from Amazon digital downloads that I purchase (I don't even bother buying pre-recorded CDs as it is less hassle to download from Amazon in minutes plus there is no sales tax on Amazon's digital downloads). I got this as a back-up to my better sounding (albeit much heavier) Sony that I have had for years as I got tired of lugging the Sony around from the basement to the workshed or to the back porch or wherever I'm doing projects. That said, it is perfect for kids due to its light weight/small footprint and descent enough sound for a non-discriminating ear. If like me, you work for hours at a hobby bench and want little more than background music, this will do the job, but if you are the type who occasionally cranks it up or for instance would appreciate and pay for an upgraded sound system in your car or home, you no doubt will have to spend more. This player seems sturdy and controls do not seem as flimsy as one might expect in this price range. One big plus was that I did not experience any track skipping when a surrounding floor/table area was jarred or bumped, which is very common, so I would say the rubber mounts do a very good job of isolating the player. The 90 day warranty however doesn't instill a great deal of confidence that this will be a long-term purchase but maybe I will be surprised.
