Corelle Square Splendor 22-Ounce Bowl Set (6-Piece) White

Had existing set of Corelle square bowls in blue trim, bought the red ones just because we needed a few more and like the minimalist design. Love these bowls. Great for cereals and soups, and our boy loves having meals in them. Not too heavy and pretty easy to clean as they’re also dishwasher safe.

My wife wanted these. They're kind of weird. The bottom part is shaped round, like a regular bowl, but then it gets square as you move up to the rim. Personally, I think they're somewhat less practical than round bowls, but the wife likes them. That's a huge factor in me giving it five stars. :) Like all Corelle stuff, they're durable unless you drop one. You do that and you'll find out they shatter into many sharp pieces. I haven't broken one of these, but I've broken other Corelle stuff. Just use a bit of care and this will never be an issue. Easy to wash and very light.

I just bought a second set of bowls to add to the first. If you've never used Corelle plates and bowls, you don't know what you're missing. I don't fully understand the engineering behind it, but they've managed to create a kind of ceramic that is incredibly shatter-resistant. As a result they can make these things very thin and light. If you ever do shatter one, look at the exposed edges. You won't find the bubbles and grainy edge found in most ceramics. These are also next to impossible to stain. They are not porous at all. So they are very easy to clean. I've had Corelle plates and bowls many times over the decades. I'm not sure if I've ever had one break. Probably once or twice. And I have dropped them more than a few times. Helps if you have a polymer-based floor like with linoleum. They give enough to allow these to bounce. If you have a hard stone or tile floor, you'll have an easier time shattering these if you knock them off your counter. But I've been surprised at how many times I've seen these just bounce when I thought they were gonners. I've had other plates and bowls along the way. I've seen a lot of them fail. It blows my mind when I see these in restaurants too. They survive well there, despite the typical abuse by wait and kitchen staff. I'm not sure why most restaurants buy such fail-y plates and bowls. Maybe for style. *shrug* Get these if you want practical.

My wife and I love this set of Corelle - we have the entire dishware set and some other accessories (BTW -accessories are typically third party and made overseas, while the dishware set itself is made in the US). Unfortunately we have dropped a few of the bowls and they shatter in a million pieces and shards of glass. - Which is probably the only downside to this stuff. Hence why I was happy to find another set of six bowls here on Amazon so now we have 9 bowls all together. They clean up very nicely, are light weight, and feel they are much cleaner than plastic.
