INSANE INSANE INSANE
FILTHY THIEVING BASTARDS IS A REAL DEAL, PERIOD.I recently tend to listen them more than I do for UTTERS."A Melody Of Retreads And Broken Quills" is, in my opinion, their best work. "Our Fathers Sent Us" is good, but it is too short. This album offers insaneness from the start to the finish, completely giving you a good chill for enough 15 songs. Almost every song is an unplugged representation of the Utters. Imagine some Utters' classics like "Watching The Wayfarers" and "A Promise To Distinction," and this album is filled with such classics. What a bonus. You can expect the massive sing-along, in-your-face, fear-no-beer, regular-utters style, with more Pogues' influences. Seriously, these guys are genius, even keep producing more albums in a regular pace.Having released the four albums, I strongly recommend this one if you are beginning to dig the band. Turn up your stereo, cheers.

Excellent Side Project Work
I unfortunately don't yet own the first EP, so I cannot compare this effort to their past work. However, I have been a fan of the Swingin Utters for quite some time now, so it wasn't too big of a leap to know I needed this album. I managed to get a few downloads back a few years ago, and I had been scouring the record shops in Madison for a good year before I broke down and bought it off the Net. It was worth it. The songs on this album are exceptional. I have always known the Swingin Utters to be one of the top punk bands from the West Coast, and this side project of theirs shows that they have the depth to try different styles and mix genres. This isn't much of a surprise if you have any of the Utters albums, but this collection of songs surpasses their previous efforts in my opinion. Counterfeit Cassius Clay, Wasting Away, and Killing Kind are the highlights for me, but there isn't a track that I ever skip by. This is simply a great all-purpose record that sounds good in just about ever situation. If you like the punk of the Swingin Utters, chances are you will like their side project.

Pub-Rock Kicks
Like the other reviewer mentions, this album sounds more like the Swingin' Utters than FTB's first EP. It's more pub-rock, pre-punk than their Irish-inspired EP. The lyrics, at times psuedo-poetic, are inspired and really come off as being 100% sincere without being sappy or whiney. The production is excellent w/o being overproduced, and the overall feel of the album, though sometimes melancholic and lamenting, is cheerful and care-free. It's music about fun and it is fun. No cheesy Bl-128 , and no pretentious emo bull; straight-ahead pub-rock with a punk-rock attitude. If you like Swingin' Utters or this band's first EP, you should def check the album out. It won't disappoint!!!

Take Me to the Pub!
This album is great, although not as good as Our Fathers Sent Us. It sounds a bit more like the Swingin' Utters, so it lost some of the unique flavor from the first album. But other than that, it is outstanding!
