WD Green 1 TB Internal SSD 2.5 Inch SATA, Green-Performance

I'd always recommend everybody to upgrade their spinning system disks to an SSD. You get many benefits of performance especially as a system disk. In my case, I already have a 512GB SSD as my system drive, but I'd added a 1TB HDD as a data disk. Unfortunately, I found the spinning disk made my PC noiser and produced vibrations. (Not to mention issues regarding seeks times etc). For under £80, I removed my noise issues, and resolved performance issues at the same time. I've been through many SSDs in my time, and I can say this WD is really good. You just need a spare SATA cable for data and power. It all worked straight out of the box with no drivers or additional software installation required. (I use Windows 10). Overall, I'm very happy with this.

I bought this as my computer was like a snail. Once this had been fitted the difference in speed of everything was the best it had ever been. This is the 2nd one I have bought as this one was for the works laptop and I have had 12 fitted to my personal laptop. I would highly recommend.

This is the second one of these I have bought, and it works OK. Don't expect lightning speed boot up with Windows though, especially if you have a lot of software installed. Even if disabled in startup. I keep one as my main drive, and use the other one for doing backup clones to. Something it does a lot quicker than Sata to Sata.

Very happy with this. For my application the speed of green is fine, don't need blue, red or black. Green is deisgned to have the lowest power requirement for use in laptops.

It is light and very easy to install into a desktop, as it was in my case. It made the computer quite fast but the absence of noise is the biggest gain.

Damn good wee drive, dead easy to install and it does all it should. Nippy little bugger too.

Be aware you might need a gasket to make up the space left by a hdd. These are available online. They make a snug fit for a laptop.

I have used a few of these now. I originally bought them because Western Digital's "Green" range generally had lower power consumption than other disk drives, at the expense of performance. In a laptop, especially when it's not a gaming laptop, this would be a perfectly satisfactory compromise. However, Western Digital's green range of SSDs aren't really that green, - in fact, I think the label now just denotes their budget range, not their low-power range. They also sacrifice a lot more than just speed. All of the green range of SSDs seem to (according to monitoring of S.M.A.R.T. parameters) exhibit a much, much shorter lifespan than other SSDs. The last one I installed was already exhibiting 98% remaining life after installing Windows, GNU/Linux and my applications for both OSes. In contrast, the very first SSD I ever fitted (a Crucial MX500 I fitted in 2018) is still going strong, performing reliably with a clean S.M.A.R.T. bill of health, despite having been thoroughly thrashed since day one. Additionally, the concept of a "low power" SSD is, I think, a little superfluous, considering that SSDs consume a fraction of the power that conventional spinning hard disks require. Factor-in the increased time you have to wait for your computer to do anything, due to the poorer performance of the "green" SSD, and you're probably consuming the same amount of energy to do the same task. Now consider that the "green" SSD will wear-out and fail sooner, thereby requiring all the energy and resources to manufacture a replacement sooner, and Western Digital's Green range suddenly seems to be the least eco-friendly of the lot. Finally, I need to point out that one of the WD green SSDs was faulty from the moment it was installed. It was hard to trace the origin of the fault, because it was intermittent, but it gradually got worse and worse, gradually corrupting files stored on the disk. It also caused corruption in other healthy disks, because of operating-system errors and crashes. Fitting a higher-quality SSD from another manufacturer has solved the problem. Therefore, I'd strongly suggest you spend just a few quid more and go with Western Digital's (or another respected maker's) higher-performing SSDs. The most common in the WD range are blue (regular desktop use) and red (intended for your NAS but you could use it in a desktop as your data-store disk).

Die Festplatte läuft sehr zuverlässig. Seit sie im Einsatz ist läuft der Laptop auch wieder flott. Da kann die alte HDD nicht mithalten. Günstiger als ein neues Laptop. Bin sehr zufrieden.

Concernant les débits ils sont conformes pour du sata. Avantage sur le Samsung QVO sur les gros transferts (+ de 40GO) les débits ne s'effondrent pas, ceci certainement dû au fait que le WD soit en TLC contrairement au Samsung en QLC.
