I have attached this to a tank for cleaning. i bought the m048n frequency generator, but cannot produce waves in the tank. what am i doing wrong?

Two items. 1. You will not be able to visibly see waves unless the power is quite high. 2. The m048n does not have sufficient power output to fully drive this transducer. You will need a power amplifier that can take the m048 as input and produce up to 60 Watts of power into the transducer

Can I use this do detect objects and send a signal to my computer like an Arduino ultrasonic sensor?

This is a high power transmitter, it has lots of mass in the driver and would not respond well as a receiver. A workable ultrasonic receiver needs sensitivity which means a very light weight diaphragm

Top connection is V, bottom connection is ground.

Is the glue around the bottom bolt removeable, I need to be able to mount the bottom to a solid surface, don't know why it's glued on.

The cap screw with glue on it is the top of the device. Do not remove this. There's a threaded hole on the bottom for mounting.
