Maria Evora Espana Single Black Cameo Large 6.3 Oz. Soap Bar from Spain

I can still catch a whiff of the fragrance on my skin after my morning bath. My whole bathroom, in fact, has a lovely light scent. The soap lathers well. It feels silky rubbing on. The shape is a plump elongated egg that cradles pleasingly in the hand. This soap elevates the whole cleansing business to a deep sensual pleasure. It also coordinates with the color of the black cast iron feet under my tub. The cameo of a woman on the soap gives it a kind of antique charm. What's in it? Some ingredients I don't recognize, as well as sea salt and minerals. It is vegetable based. But regardless of how it's made, it's made in Spain, which is a plus for me. As is the case with all black soaps that I’ve tried, the lather looks a bit like black mud slime. But after your mud bath you feel and smell fresh and fragrant as a flower. I bought this soap in an upscale boutique, and liked it so much I ordered more from Amazon. I have a weakness for black soaps, and this is my all time favorite.

I love this soap! I first came across this in a boutique on the West Coast over ten years ago and have searched it out ever since. I'm always on the hunt for the best price and managed to find it here finally. I love the smell - but this is really a subjective thing. I don't particularly care for florals, and while this does have plenty of floral notes there's something about it that is enchanting. Generally when looking for a soap I look for two things: 1. The scent - I'm pretty sensitive in regards to smell and if this doesn't work I won't be able to use it. And 2. Does the soap dry you out? If it does that's a deal-breaker as well. I've tried tons of different soaps over the years and many leave my skin feeling parched and tight. This soap emphatically does not. My skin feels like my skin, but cleaner, not striped. So thankful to be able to find this here.

Soap was not as expected at this price! I am rather disappointed in the product.

WOW! My wife and I were almost out of the bars of the White Cameo (Rose) bar soap. It was my turn to order and pay for a new supply. As I accessed the AMAZON site, I noted the BLACK CAMEO SOAP --- "sea salt and carob --- also noted as a mineral soap." Black has been recognized as CLASSY for many, many years. The new "black" bars arrived just as I was leaving the hospital to return hone after a third spinal surgery. Fortunately, my spinal incision was able to be sealed with a "derma-bond" product," and I was able to take a full shower immediately. Being able to shower with this new sea salt and carob soap certainly lifted my spirits ---- the fragrance is completely "FRESH & EARTHY" and it has served well as a shave "cream." Oil, especially on the face and scalp, was cleansed away and was much slower to re-accumulate! The after-shower fragrance IS earthy but not strong ---- a very healthy fragrance. A terrific discovery for me.

If you smell it in the box it may seem too strong but when you wash with it, it is subtle and lovely. I personally love real soap and this is my favorite. It's so pretty when you get it you don't want to use it.

Love this soap. Smells earthy and amazing, but not overpowering. Doesn't dry my skin out too much. The bar lasts a long time too...as long as I hide it from my boyfriend.

Great clean scent for men and women. Bar is milled and lasts a long time, and does not irritate sensitive skin.
