Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet: Charley Davidson, Book 4

You wont be able to put the book down,
If you have housework to do, I recommend doin it first before starting book 4. Charlie is always into something and always ends up in trouble. A very good read, infact the entire series is exceptional; 13 book series, goen on 14which I believe is her last one. I read a few books on my kindle (8.99/book) but found out goin thru Thriftbooks on internet was even cheaper ($4.49 for hardback and in excellent condition. Then, when your done, simply sell the books to used book store, even if you get a few dollars for each, its still money in your pocket. If you do order thru Thrift order ahead. After $10.00 on that order it is free shipping. What a deal!! Especially when each book on Amazon is like $16,00. I cant recall too much in book 4 because i am on book 8 and sooooo much has happened, however, each book has its own situations, and some are outrageous. Happy reading!!

If you want a strong female main character, you won't find her here
This is, sadly, the last book from the series I'll be reading. It's book four and the heroine (which cannot be called that at all) is still blundering about, stumbling into success while getting beat down over and over. Not to mention that she still hasn't managed to get a handle on her powers and she's depending on other people to keep saving her.And don't even get me started on the relationship between Reyes and Charley. Stockholm syndrome much? In every book he's held her forcefully by her neck, and she can't help but feel sorry for him and throw herself on him.And the jokes are getting old, repetitive and just plain not worth the time. Also, if you cut the bad jokes and unnecessary banter, I'm pretty sure the book's page numbers would go down to half, which is just plain sad.The only plus this whole book had to offer was the mystery, which kept me reading all the way to the end.I don't usually give 1 star to authors, because I know the work that goes into a book. But here I can't bring myself to say anything remotely encouraging, I'm sorry.

Fun and Entertaining!
Book 4, Charley's main case is searching for the culprit who has been terrorizing Harper since she was 5 years old. Her family believes she has been making it up for attention. Harper believe someone is out to kill her. Some side cases involve Charley finding an arsonist, the identity of the gentlemen bank robbers, and the ever evolving story line with the demons out to kill her. The new development with the demons is that they are possessing people before going after her. This way they are protected from her light. We got a few more pieces to the puzzle that is Charley. She showed some new abilities and her relationship with Reyes seems to still be moving forward, just at a snail's pace that picked up a bit there at the end. I'm hoping that momentum keeps up.I'm still very much loving this series. it's highly entertaining with some great side characters. On to the next book...OVERALL SERIES DESCRIPTION: Heroine, Charley Davidson, Private Investigator and Grim Reaper. She's a portal for the dead to pass through to heaven. Hero, Reyes Alexander Farrow, Son of Satan and portal to Hell. Since Charley can see and talk to the dead, she has helped her former cop father and current cop uncle solve cases. The main focus in each book are the cases Charley solves with the help of her best friend Cookie, her uncle and the dead victims. The side focus is the romance between Charley and Reyes and the impending war with the demons that is predicted.

Funny and thrilling - Love Literature Art and Reason
Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet was awesome. Charley was suffering from some major issues after her terrible encounter with Earl Walker in her apartment at the end of the previous book, but she wasn't necessarily able to admit that. Instead, she developed a major problem of watching infomercials and buying nearly everything, letting the boxes pile up on The Spot in her living room where she almost lost her life. What I liked so much about Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet is realizing just how many people care about Charley and her wellbeing. Even her father, despite the things he did to her in the last book. Maybe even, (gasp!) Denise. Even Reyes helped her out with the stress she was experiencing.. in more ways than one. I also really liked Charley's case in this installment because I honestly didn't know who on earth was to blame and I liked watching her figure the case out. Also, with each book, I find out more and more information about Reyes, his past, and what exactly his connection to Charley is. I love how they come together, but make each other mad and exasperated, too. This series is so awesome. It's funny, vibrant, entertaining, romantic, mysterious, and thrilling to read. I definitely recommend it and I think that each book gets better and better. It's a great urban fantasy for lovers of anything paranormal, weird, or slightly mysterious.

Forgiving
Yikes, Charley, I feel the anguish to my toes. How are you able to forgive Reyes so easy. You should have made him beg, but it seems she gave up when he was angry. Reality is she should be the one angry, and Reyes should be on his darn knees begging her forgiveness. This one frustrated me. It killed me to see charley so far down. After what happen I couldn't blame her.The fight is on, the amount of terror that Charley goes through again is crazy. Yeah, what Reyes is doing is nice, but really he should train her. Swopes poor guy trying to protect her, what happen was horrible, and I am on the fence of what he learned. Let them be happy. After much groveling. I am pained for charley for what happen with the case, it is too bad, that getting her sea legs again and that is what happens. I must continue on.

read them all - epic
Well I downloaded this one month ago and it was so good I read all 12 books to date in one month. They were epic! without giving any spoilers away, let me just say, this series was refreshingly different. A grim reaper who is funny, empathetic and has a gorgeous sexy counterpart. Both main characters and main sub characters progress throughout the series to the point that I felt I knew these people. I miss them - waiting on the final book to be released in a couple of weeks - and then I'll be despondent without them. Each book progressed not only the characters but the story without too much repetition - just the right amount that it kept new readers in the loop and didn't bore the pants of serial readers. It was laugh out loud funny in places -you don't get much of that in books - and I really empathised and felt in tune with Charley. It had it all - romance, naughty bits (just the right amount), suspense, complex storyline, and storyline progression throughout the series. These books would make an excellent transition to TV or film. A good director and producer could make these great on this medium. They are also well written. Written from Charley's POV, you get the inside view of what it's like to be Charley and you get her reactions to her circumstances, relationships both normal and paranormal and how she feels about what she does. You love Reyes as much as she does, what's not to love? And the suspense is a page turner. A series not to be missed and one to ensure you put aside time to enjoy.

Another brilliant book in the series
Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet is a fantastic addition to the amazing Charley Davidson series. Charley Davidson is the Grim Reaper and is such a great fun character. She is genuinely very funny and the book is filled with witty one liners and great chapter headings. As one would expect from a leading lady in an Urban Fantasy book Charley is kickass but we also see her vulnerable side too as Charley has locked herself away for two months too afraid to leave her flat after the events in the last book. As with all great leading ladies you also have to have a great leading man and we do with Reyes Farrow. He is my perfect male character, and I am completely in love with him. Sexy, hot, one minute Mr Nice Guy saving Charley's life the next Mr Badass backing Charley into a corner because he is mad at her and the image of him shirtless in those jeans....well what more can I say. You never know where Charley stands with Reyes and their teasing will they won't they relationship so far makes this series brilliant. As well as the main plot in this book which is Charley's new case we also find out a lot about Charley's past and what being the Grim Reaper is and why the demons want her so much. But in as much as we get answers we also have so many more questions which leaves us begging for the next instalment. If you want a great witty read with a funny female character and a hot sexy bad boy then please try these books. I love this series and it is a must read for Urban Fantasy fans. Ms Jones has pulled off yet another awesome book and I can't wait for July 2013 to get my hands on Fifth Grave Past the Light. I am going to give Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet 5 stars.

Darynda Jones is on Fire
I have no idea from where Darynda Jones exploded onto my reading world but I am overjoyed that I've discovered her. This woman is a genius and long may she continue to write. This book is pure entertainment of the highest order - as are all the others in the set. I have been swallowed whole into the world of Charley and simply can't get enough. The book is fast paced, full of humour, sadness, surprises and bone deep love. Charley continues to be as loveable as ever and I have to say this is no small achievement as in many series of this genre the character begins to lose sparkle and wit after a few books. Not so with this feisty, adhd suffering, kookie weirdo. Although the unveiling of Charley's full powers is taking too long! I'm getting a little bit bothered by 'I can't tell you...you'll find out' line (that's the line people feed me during a movie when I want to know what happens at the end. Just tell me already!)I also got the feeling that the author may be a little stuck with how the 'war' between good and evil will be played out. It didn't really add much to the plot for me but this didn't have a detrimental impact as the story seems to be mostly about Charley overcoming trauma and developing a relationship with Reyes. It will be interesting to see how this 'war' plot line will develop. Hopefully it will add to the excitement rather than turn this amazing series into something ridiculous.I couldn't put it down and can't wait for the next installment. Loved, loved, loved it! Read it!

Charley Rides Forth Again
The only problem with writing a book review is the chance of inadvertently giving away too much of the story line ... so I will be brief. Anyone starting this book, without reading the other three first, would certainly be advised by me to just start at book one in order to really, really enjoy this series. The wisecracking Charley Davidson is a PI with a difference - she is a Grim Reaper but certainly not in the traditional sense. This book has certainly come a long way for the character of Charley, especially regarding the rather delicious relationship with the gorgeous Reyes who, poor sod, happens to be the Son of Satan. This is such a terrific read. You would think Charley is a simple soul but she isn't really ... and with the devils demons after her now she has to be quick on her feet and with the riposte ... and never fails to deliver. In my opinion, Ms Jones has created a wonderfully, loveable character who also happens to be a little crazy because of the life she has to lead. I cannot wait for Book No. Five where, hopefully, Charley will begin to really understand just what she is capable of. Love it.
