ACE Brand Deluxe Thumb Stabilizer, Adjustable, Black, 1/Pack

I developed what my doctor called “texting thumb,” and my doctor recommended this thumb stabilizer brace. It works really well, providing support and cushioning that helps my hand feel better overnight when I wear it while sleeping. The ACE Thumb Stabilizer is a high quality produce and worked exactly as advertised. It helped ease the pain and was very comfortable to wear.

For fit: My wrist is 6" around. This fits; I could probably have a slightly thinner wrist, or a significantly thicker one, and it would still fit. I am using this to help rehab a case of De Quervains Tenosynovitis in my right hand. I mainly wear it while sleeping. Unlike many other braces I've tried over the years, this is comfortable enough that I don't remove it while half-asleep, at some random hour of the night. Despite wearing it during the summer in an 80F room, my hand was not hot at all, and there were no pinch or pressure points on the brace. It provides mild to moderate support - my grip is stronger than most, and for me the brace provides modest, elastic-like resistance to movement. The rating on the box says moderate, and I could probably stand to go up one level in support myself, but even this is enough to discourage movement at night. I'm still trialing it, and as is the case with most tendon injuries I won't know if it is working for at least a month. However, I have some confidence in its ability to do what it says it can do. Would recommend - it's worth the price of admission to at least test the brace, especially if your particular hurt or injury is mild.

I have bone on bone at the base of my right thumb. This is the best brace I have found for stabilizing my thumb, relieving pain and still leaving my hand very functional.

So, I have an overuse injury of my left thumb (partial texting, partial bicycle riding, partial old hyper extension injury). What I need is to stabilize and decrease motion of the thumb so it can rest and heal. This injury used to be called a gamekeepers thumb (although my tendon is not avulsed). Since I believe in staying with name brands I tried this brace, and one by Mueller. Both are comfortable, both help remind me not to overuse the thumb, and both have stays, but this one allowed for too much movement and not enough support, especially at the wrist. So, not for me. As for fit, you hardly feel that you have anything on with this device (which is not what you need, by the way, you need support) and it also seemed a bit small for my hand (medium sized adult male). It also relies on elastic cording to provide a snug fit, and I know that elastic cording will loose elasticity over time, especially if you wash this (which hopefully you will). In conclusion: if all you need is a little support and a reminder not to overuse your thumb - this may well work. If you want true stability, I'd look elsewhere (perhaps the Mueller?). Lastly, I've seen others review these stabilizers with the intent of wearing them but still continuing to text. Newsflash, texting thumb is real and the way to heal that is, you guessed it, stop using your thumb to text!!!! This brace was returned in favor of the Mueller.

I had a pinched nerve and tendonitis, this has helped so much in my recovery. I wore it everyday for over a year and provided amazing support. I still wear it now when my wrist starts to hurt again. It helps so much!

I have some kind of tendinitis in my wrist/thumb joint that flares up when doing certain tasks; eg. gardening, woodwork and even knitting etc. If I wear this when I do the tasks it is both protective and acts as a ‘warning’ to remind me to take it easy with that joint!

Too small for someone who wears M size gloves as the velcro string band will bite into my wrist and skin. I have other ACE products to protect my wrist w/o issues. The seller claiming 'fits most people' is misleading and false. In addition, it was advertised as 'free return'. Again, it was misleading and false because you would need to pay the postage costs to return the item. Lesson learned, do not buy from third party sellers - you never know what 'free returns' mean.
