Good book to be introduced to task 1
If you do not know much about the coverage of the exam in terms of task 1 , buy this book. It is good. It teaches basic things and teaches ypu step by step. But do not forget to support your knowledge from Slideshare Simon's task 1 samples. I helped my sister study for the exam and I studied first this book and taught her.

Rachel Mitchell did a great job in writing her books
Rachel Mitchell did a great job in writing her books, for sure. But if I was allowed to compare the IELTS authors, I would definitely argue that Mike Wattie could produce better IELTS references as he gives model essay temples and lots of secrets in the speaking book, too. Mike, if you hear me, that would be excellent if you could publish the same books of the listening and reading sections too - there is an aim to go for, I believe!

Excellent!
It may be the best book for IELTS Writing Task 1. I was amazed by the methodology which is given. The book has really boosted my confidence for the exam. It covers all the different charts and diagrams for Task 1 and it has worked examples. The tips given are very valuable. You have the knowledge required for a band score of 7 or more. Nikolaos B.
