They seem sturdy and will protect the cards regardless
Sleeves arrived in a timely manner and appear to be as advertised. I have no way to test to see if they impact the RF signal or not so I can not really comment on that aspect. They seem sturdy and will protect the cards regardless. Everything appears to be on the up and up and CARMick has followed up with emails to me asking if I am satisfied with their product, that in itself gives me more confidence that they stand behind their product and that it works. I'm not sure how one would test the functionality of it unless you had a card scanner (?) Follow up: So I have a security badge at work that also uses an RFID chip and I had the idea to test the CARMick sleeve on it. What I found was without the sleeve on my badge, the station would register my badge at about 8 inches away. With the sleeve on the badge I had to press the badge completely up against the reader for it to register. I wrapped my badge in 3 layers on each side of thicker paper. That had no effect on the distance the badge was detected. Now here is the real kicker. I have a Global Entry ID Gov't ID card with a special sleeve the gov't sent with it to protect against identity theft. This thing looks brass colored on the inside and just looks like a fort knox of sleeves. IT DID NOT PERFORM AT ALL. The CARMick sleeve was the only thing that appeared to block the signal at all. I am raising my rating to 5 stars and definitely be telling my coworkers about these sleeves. Tested to work as advertised. Thanks CARMick!

Is it weird to get excited about passport covers?
I was looking to pick up some more id preservers when I found out that they are coming out with a new product that works with passports and also has the credit card holders included. I really like the credit card holders because they really work (yep, I tested them out!). They are sturdy, easy to use, and with daily use haven't worn out. I may be planning a trip for work and I need one for my new passport. I don't want a bulky case but one that comfortably fits without bulk, actually works, and won't fall apart after using it a couple of times. I'll give an update after I get my new toys! Sigh, I'm such a geek that these get me excited. Maybe it's time to go skydiving again or on a tropical vacation... Update: The passport covers are the same great quality as the credit card holders. Durable, enough room for the passport, and not bulky at all! I count this as a win... Now where to go?

Tested on the entry scanners at work
These sleeves fit the US passport and credit cards reasonably well. I tried them with my access badge at work. Encased in the sleeve, neither the reader at the gate (usually works from a few inches away) nor the one at the building entrance (usually requires contact with the access card) would let me in. Pass! Gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of durability concerns since the sleeves are just paper instead of a plastic coated paper and the bottom edge is not glued down all the way to the edges so may catch on things. I think I'll put a bit of Elmer's on the loose ends. They are more expensive than some of the others but still cheap per sleeve. The important thing is that they seem to work. Bottom line is that I would recommend them. Edited to Add: Manufacturer says in comment to this review that the sleeves are actually laminated with two layers of paper encasing one each of metal and plastic. Also that they have addressed the loose corners in their manufacturing process. If that is the case, consider this a 5 star product (though my rating is 4 and half since I had to glue a few corners myself).

What a mental relief!
I cannot believe how quickly my product arrived! Thanks CARMick Products! I was a bit anxious in terms of what I was getting for the price I was paying, and have since found that my sense of security for my credit and debit cards has increased since I have been using them. And, it's only been a couple of days! I no longer worry about any 'swiping' of my information from a reader that I don't know is around me. It's a sad state of affairs that I need to think about this! But, I guess that it is a sign of the times. What a relief it is not to have to worry about illegal scanning of my info! The cards easily move in and out of the sleeve and I really don't notice much additional bulk added to my wallet. I know that I will be telling other members of my family about this product and the importance of ensuring the safe keeping of personal information that is encoded/embeded in those black strips found on our credit and debit cards. I travel a great deal, and am so thankful for the additional security afforded me of the passport sized 'pocket'. I haven't used the passport one yet, but certainly plan to do so the next time I travel. Thanks again, CARMick Products!

I heard it throught the grape vine
Because it is time for me to renew my passport, my brother enlightened me to the whole RFID technology issue. He freaked me out a little, and the more I researched on the internet, the more confused I became. So by now, a third of what I've read says the data on the chip is encrypted, a third says it's not, and a third says it's crackable even though it IS encrypted. Anyway, I came across a great press release about CARMick Products and this passport shield on the "Ultimate News" website, which sent me here. Apparently, this company has been producing shielded holders for credit cards for some time now. I checked out their other product and read the reviews. Between those reviews and the press release, I've decided to wait for the release of this product. Might as well protect my credit cards too. It seems weird to assign "stars" to something I haven't purchased, so I'm going to go ahead and leave just four for now. After I purchase these things and check them out, I'll come back and update this review as well as the number of stars I think it should have. UPDATE as of 11/7/2013: OK... Here's what I did - I bought this set of sleeves. As expected Amazon quickly delivered them to my doorstep. Then, I downloaded an app called NFCProxy. I read about it in Forbes. It can be used to hack credit card information if the card has an RFID chip in it. Then I did a before / after test with my credit cards. And you know what, these sleeves worked GREAT! Next, I tried to find a way to hack my passport. But so far, I can't seem to be able to find an app or a gadget that will do it. Maybe it's too illegal for a publicly available method. So for now, I am going to bump the "stars-rating" up to a 5, and assume that they are just as effective for passports as they are for credit cards. Maybe I'll keep looking for a way to test them, maybe I won't. But if I find one, I'll come back here and report. As far as sleeves go. They're fine. Thin enough to allow the credit cards and passports to still fit in the wallet/bag I use for carrying them around. And they're made of a pretty tough material. It feels like it will last a while. I wish they were a little more attractive, though. Maybe a cool design instead of a GINORMOUS logo. The bottom line is this: As far as I can tell, they do what they are supposed to do. I'm no spy or hacker, but I tested this CARMick product and I'm satisfied. I'm probably going to get a few more sets as gifts for people I feel "obligated" to buy presents for this Christmas (like clients). The way I see it, it's not that "cool" of a present, but they will remember me every time they use their credit card. LOL!

Overkill
I have given 3 stars because buying these was my own fault. A travel friend suggested these holders. Living in the US I do not have any credit, debit ATM cards that are 'Smart Cards" nor is my passport. The vendor sent a long description after I had ordered them but the info was there on Amazon in the description. They will protect the Magnetic strips on my cards from demagnetizing. I am sure this is the technology of the future and I will put them away until my cards become "Smart"

Terrific Product! So happy I found these.
I have been trying to find good RFID protectors for my credit cards and am surprised at the variance in quality that is out there. These security card shields are, hands down, the best. They fit easily in my wallet. They are sturdy and have held up nicely to my cards being constantly slid in and out of them. I have a teenage son who wanted his cut off to make it easier to grab his card. Easy as pie. I cut his security card shield down a bit shorter and now he likes it. Everyone in my family keeps their cards in these now and I am relieved to have one more line of protection against identity theft. I even have my driver's license in one to be extra safe.

Great idea.
We were sadly credit card skimmed recently and lost $$. Bank recommended card protection cases. These are great. Tight fit on card and can fit in our phone covers. We used on our bank card, work corporate cards and travel cards. We also got bigger size for our passports. You can never be too careful. We learnt the hard way.
