Kialoa US-1 Dare to Win: In Business In Sailing In Life

Jim Kilroy has written a fantastic book summarizing his exploits on the KIALOAs. I had the pleasure of knowing Jim and the members of KIALOA 3, 4 and 5 when they raced in the Clipper Cup and Kenwood Cup series where I was the Race Director from 1978 to 2000. This book will capture the hearts of those who were affiliated as crew members of the KIALOAs or their competitors. A masterful book well done!

Great coffee table book--makes a good gift. Unfortunately, or fortunately, actually--the week after I ordered this, my kid was entered in a regatta in San Francisco that coincided with the National Sailing Hall of Fame event--she was given this book--so now we have two!

If you knew Jim. you'd think he was speaking to you!! So many fond memories when I owned ESCAPADE (the real one) and from racing on "PASSAGE" when she was new. Sailingis not the same--no SORC's.I had the opportunity to only sail with Jim a few times, but he was a master!!THANK YOU JIMBO!!

"Kialoa, Dare to Win" is a beautifully illustrated, well written and organized volume on the sailing and life victories of Jim Kilroy.A great read for sailors, soon to be sailors or dreamers and especially poignant for those of us who were fortunate enough to be a part of this epic adventure.

I just finished reading Dare to Win, aside from reviving wonderful sailing memories, what a tribute to a true renaissance man!I only knew Jim as a skipper, but what a beautiful life achievement.Thank you for the hard work of putting this book together and sharing it with us!

I am very familiar with the Kialoa boats and have teh utmost respect for jim Kilroy. A slef-made man who worked hard and smart. We should all have the opportunity to read this and learn from him

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this wonderful book. It was a very interesting and difficult to put down. i would highly recommend it to anyone who has been involved in big boat racing.
