Great quick CCW Holster for Maxpedition
First of all, I must emphasize that this is a product that is meant to work with the Maxpedition bags and really not much else. Exception to this is that if your bag has velcro in it this will work in it as the entire back is velcro as well. So for the price I paid at the time, $10, it was a steal. My actual holster that I typically use for CCW was almost $90. As many Police and Military will tell you a good holster takes time to find and many have more than one type of holster before they find one that works for them. To the actual review. I use this with Maxpedition Kodiak Gearslinger in Khaki and it works great for its intended purpose. Concealing my pistol when I am not carrying it on my actual body. The product is a simple design and is ambidextrous. The part that holds the pistol in place is adjustable in size so it can accommodate numerous different pistols. It however does not hold it that securely so I did a little math and placed it at an angle in my bag so that if I did need to use it, swinging the bag around would not fling the pistol from the holder. It makes drawing it a little awkward because of the angle but with practice that wont matter. The only thing I don't really like with it, is that it places the pistol basically on its side right next to the bag. Its not a problem with my pistol because I have an internal safety, however people with lever safeties, there could be a potential that the safety could be hit off safe. I do not think this would be a problem as long as the bag is packed right, your not throwing it around, and not running an obstacle course with it, but it could happen. Another thing about this is that unless your sight is a low profile, you could get it snagged when drawing. Also if you are running aftermarket lasers or lights, they could work as long as they do not drop lower than the trigger guard as that is where the gun is held in place. Anything wider than the trigger guard toward the muzzle could snag the gun on draw.

Very secure holster.
This holster is more secure than I expected for my XD compact. It takes a few tries to get the loop just the right size but it's set it and forget it after that and holds your gun very securely inside the Maxpedition Testudo bag I got this for. As with all Maxpedition stuff, super high quality materials and solid construction. You really do get what you pay for, even if their stuff is a bit pricey. I may get one of these for the car. I usually always carry on body in the car but for long trips I think I'd prefer to have one of these hidden somewhere. My only concern before I got it was that it might not have enough retention or that it would not cover the trigger guard very well. Both of those concerns have been aleviated - the loop is plenty wide enough to cover even a large trigger guard, and the elastic is strong enough to hold my pistol without any worries of it slipping out, and also not so stiff that it's impossible to get in or out. It holds on tight to the velcro panel inside the testudo case.

Does the job most of the time
This thing is as simple as can be. There's good and bad that comes with that. It's cheap, should last forever and it's more or less fool proof. That's the good. My only real complaint is that it doesn't work for every gun. If you have a pretty standard pistol, e.g. Glock, XD, 1911, you will be fine. It would be ridiculous for my to expect any holster to work with every gun in the world, but it does not work with most of my revolvers at all, especially the snubbies. It also doesn't work very well with tiny guns like the LCP. These are two pretty big categories, so buyer beware. Some random additional notes: This may or may not be obvious to you, but it will require adjustment if you switch guns. This is not hard to do, but just FYI. If this is to be kept inside of a zippered CCW compartment, such is in one of the many Maxpedition bags with CCW compartments, do not wrap the gun too tightly. When you are fitting the holster to the gun, leave a little bit of slack. The reason is that you won't be able to reholster it without struggling and this could be dangerous. If it's not obvious to you by now, this holster basically wraps around the bottom of the trigger guard and goes around the top of the slide. I suggest tapering one side of the loop so that it makes it easier to insert the trigger guard, especially with Glocks or other guns that have a 90 degree corner on the front edge of the trigger guard. This isn't as much of a concern with rounded trigger guards. Be freaking careful when you are reholstering. Even with tapering it slightly and leaving a little slack, the loop will sort of collapse and you will have to jiggle the gun around to get it to go back in. I accidentally hit the magazine release, unknowingly, as I was trying to get a pistol back in the thing. Imagine my surprise later when I went to pull it out and the magazine was just tumbling around loose in the CCW pocket. Thankfully, I didn't have to use it. Lastly, if you are using this inside a zippered CCW compartment, as I mentioned earlier, mount the holster as close to the zipper as possible so that the gun doesn't slip out. If you mount it too deep, it's possible that the gun could slip out be loose inside the compartment, if the bag were to be inverted or otherwise handled roughly.

Good quality overall
I am repeating my review for all my Maxpedition pouches / holsters and straps - simply because they are all the same great quality and function. The lack or comparison differences needs be addressed BEFORE buying anything - once bought it works and decently so! The workmanship is good and i like the overall finish and function. Choosing a colour is a 'nice' problem'. Note: One typical common symptom i would heed people about is to CHECK the sizes! I see a lot of "its smaller than i thought" (lol) and found myself thinking the same with many if not most. So dont make a mistake buying it before you check and make sure you realize what its actual physical size is. Using YouTube helps a ton to see such issues ahead of time. My Glock 23 fits nicely but mileage varies depending if hip, pouch or vest mounted.
