I wanted to get a G-Shock for quite sometime now. This is my first one… I really liked the looks and the feature set of this model – let me be frank – I was hooked by the promotion images!!! Like the rest of you, I was skeptical about the negative display, especially having read several reviews mentioning visibility problems. One issue raised was inadequate contrast of the digits and a second issue mentioned was glare, especially outdoors. I decided to go on and order hpwever, although I knew that a return would be next to impossible since I live in Greece and shipping cost would be quite high to do so. But still I wanted to take the chance. The watch arrived today (06/17/2015). Good packaging, totally secure, easy to open. I opened the box place indoors. The glossy-black metallic container of the watch looks cool, but still my anxiety was sky-rocketed as I was ready to take the watch itself out and take a first look. Taking it in my hand, I turned its face towards mine… Visibility indoors: Excellent. The display is totally readable. The digits look sharp and bright. Really close to the promotion images on Amazon… What a relief! The glass is shiny indeed, but there’s no way I would say it’s glary. It does not distract as you look at the face of the watch – that is indoors. I was also relieved to find out that the Atomic feature will be functional in my area (I was totally unsure about this). But, thank god, Athens is included! Setting up my local time-zone and time was a breeze. I have not dealt with additional features yet. So, I wore the watch and went to work. The weather was great in the morning, sunny and warm. Visibility outside (sun low in the sky/ no clouds): Excellent. I could read the time with no problem whatsoever. The digits still look clear & bright and glare is well in control as long as you look at the watch in an angle that makes sense. If you turn it away from you for more than 30-35 degrees it will turn glossy, but by that time, you will also lose contact with the face as the plastic surrounding it gets in the way. Visibility outside (sun high in the sky/ no clouds): Excellent+. Under direct sunlight the digits look even more sparkly and clear. The glass is completely transparent & clear. Overall this is the best situation I have encountered today. I kept looking at the watch as it looked so beautiful, I was amazed!!! Visibility outside (sun in high position/ cloudy): Excellent. I also had the chance to encounter some clouds in the sky and here is my opinion: Clouds tend to enhance glare, but this is only minor. It builds up faster as you turn the watch away from you, but nothing big. Overall, let me say just one thing: I would have never thought there’s some issue with this watch if I had not read the reviews. The only reason that I wrote this is just to express my own comments to the criticism. One last thing about the size: I’ve seen bulkier G-Shocks and I like the fact that this one is not too big. I had the impression it would be bigger from the images, but I like time pieces normal-sized (as opposed to over-sized) and I’m 100% satisfied. So, great watch, gorgeous looking and sporty, and it’s a G-Shock. It’s going to last forever.

I've had this watch for a couple of weeks now, so I can give you my honest opinion on this watch. I have no complaints. It's exactly what I was looking for. A rugged, accurate, and utilitarian watch which I could wear with gym gear, running, or in business casual. I also did not want to have to worry about changing batteries. The watch is a little smaller than G-Shocks I've had in the past, but it is still substantial and does not look like a woman's watch, as some have said. I like the tactical look. Other reviews have mentioned that the negative display is hard to read. That is true, particularly in glare or medium light. But a shift of the wrist cures this. You can set the backlight to activate, also, with a shift of the wrist, which I've done, and in darkness it shows the time and date very nicely. I've attached a picture of the watch with moderate glare, and you can see the display is still readable. I've banged the watch several times on walls and things like that and the watch takes it like a champ, showing only imperceptible dings which to me adds character. I did, unfortunately, hit the crystal squarely on the corner of my granite countertop and it left a minor scratch on the face. I think cheaper crystals would have broken or scratched more deeply. I can barely see the scratch and it does not bother me at all. Moving through the options using the buttons is easy and will be familiar to those familiar with G-Shocks. Checking time through several time zones is easy. Setting alarms easy. Stopwatch easy. Just take a few minutes to read the manual. With respect to charging, I had some trouble getting past medium charge the first day or two. Then I put the watch in a glass of water and left it on the porch to catch the morning and afternoon light. After five hours of charging, it has stayed on high, except for periods of several hours when I've been out of sunlight. And, after these periods is has returned to high very quickly. What else can I say? For the price, I don't think you can do better. It's a sharp looking watch. Thinking of buying my father one.

Any gripes I have with this watch are entirely my own fault. I own many GShocks and love them all. Digital, Analogue Aviation etc. Over the time of ownership I began to build a mater list of what I wanted in my next one. I wanted it to be atomic, I wanted it to be solar, I wanted easy transition between time zones and world time. Lastly, I began to have a yearning for a murdered out black on black watch. Does Casio make such an amalgamation? In fact they do. Case in point, THIS WATCH. Likes: Utility Features - Unlike other atomic watches I've owned, this one hooked up to the Atomic clock on the first night and synced just like it should. No need for manual sync initially. I also really like the layout. Shows me everything I need in one look: Time (with seconds), date (with month), and day of the week. I use the world clock one button push (top right button) and I can have repeated access to Zulu (UTC) without having to do the math. Easy enough but it gets old doing it all the time. Second, simple alarm. I use it for power naps/cooking/and reminders throughout the day. Easy to set and easy to turn off. Stopwatch, who doesn't need one of those? Lots of utility there. Count down timer, way useful in the weight room for switching to different sets/stations without having to mess up your rhythm by checking your watch. Structural features - IT'S A G-SHOCK. Good luck killing it. It will probably out live you. I use my Gshocks for dirtier/grimier/outdoor or under the truck days. Salt water, suncreen, engine oil, sweat, hydraulic fluid, and blood. No issues just washing it all off the watch. That's what it was made for. Also use Gshocks in the jet when I'm at work. I can wail on them and have no regrets about it. They are my most reliable piece of kit. People come to me for a hack to get their watches synced up. Ballin. Lastly, the auto backlight feature. You don't know how useful it is until you have it available to you. I love not needing to press the button for backlight at night. Just move my wrist like I'd be checking it normally then BOOM, a glorious display of time. Doing it with no hands (STS) has now spoiled me. Dislikes: Dimensions. The watch is smaller in all dimensions than any of my previous G's. My own fault for not crosschecking this. It's not diminutive but it isn't super substantial either. I have a fairly big wrist and am on the 3rd notch from the end. The band is thinner than I expected but overall the watch still functions great and looks good on the wrist. The buttons are smallish I can get over that. No one likes the small letters on an iPhone am I right? All my gripes are strikes against me for not checking, the watch is fine. Last oddity is that even after days in the sun, it still never charges above MID. Overall: For $100 I think it is a GREAT addition to any collection for looks and utility.

Came to my Amazon order history to remember how long I had this watch. I was very surprised to see I have had it for over 3 years now. Decided I needed to write a review, I hope this helps. I had only used Iron Man watches previously (for about 20 years). Those watches started to have problems. I was changing the watch every year, while before one Iron Man watch would last around two years with a battery change about every year. I decided to look for another brand and settled on this watch. Very glad I did. I put this watch on three years ago and have never had an issue with it. Pros: -I have never changed the battery -Never had to adjust the time -After three years of working as a mechanic full time, I can barley see a few small scratches on the face. I almost have to intentionally look for them. So it is very scratch resistant. I have hit this watch hard on the face again sharp corners, when I look at it to see what damage has been done, I am shocked everytine to not see any scratches at all. -Overall the watch still looks great. -Size is perfect for me. When I first got it, it was little big compared to the watches I used before, but now it seems the perfect size. Cons: -I read some reviews that say the watch is hard to read. I agree with that a little bit, overall it's not bad. I would say that I do use the back light at times other watches would not need that, but overall it's not something to prevent me from buying this again. -I wear my watch always, in the shower I need to know the time so I always have it on. For some reason this watch retain a lot of water between my watch and my skin, something other watches didn't bother me on, so I just about every time I have to take it off and let it dry. It has become a normal thing that doesn't bother me, so it's a slight inconvenience. -I think the face layout could be different. The circle battery charge indicator takes a lot of room and not really used, so it could be done away with and used for larger numbers. That's just a slight suggestion in design. - Two times in over three years I have ran the battery out. Both times I was sick and in bed for over three days straight. It wasn't getting enough light. I place it under a lamp for a few hours and it's good. If I spend a lot of time outside it always stays "high", very few times I have seen it "low", it stays on "medium" just about all the time. -The worst thing about this watch is the strap, it doesn't have a physical hole to hold it in the retaining ring. So it has to be far in to hold it, leaving more hanging out than normal. They need to change this. It's normal now, so I don't even notice how much or when I adjust it. -When I first got it, it took a few days to connect for the time set, I always checked it. After a few days it always reads and resets at night. I check it ever so often and it updates every night, so no problem with the time set. Overall I am hooked and will never buy another kind of watch. I always have perfect time set and never have to set it. Its extremely durable, I fully expect it to last another three years. When this one stops working right now, I will buy this one again or the upgraded version if they have one. Its a great watch!

I waited over a month to write a review because I wanted to allow time to figure out the functions and see how it performed for at least that long before I made a determination. This watched arrived with a full charge straight out of the box and has never moved off of full status. Controls are a BREEZE and this is the first G Shock I've ever owned, and first digital watch for that matter. It really is simple to operate and it keeps excellent time. The automic clock sync is a great function, but as the instructions say, it's best to keep it by a window pointed in the direction of where the signal originates and if not, you will likely get an ERR message (failure). I keep my watch at my bedside and the atomic sync attempts at the top of every hour from midnight - 5am, but has yet to be successful because of where I keep it.i simply sync it manually in the window either when I wake up or later in the day, which takes maybe 5 minutes. This watch is very comfortable and lightweight, and although several reviewers mentioned the band not being that great, I personally have no issues with it. I don't baby things at all and have banged this watch quite a bit on steel, wood, etc. with no visible scuffs and it keeps on rocking. Waterproofing is legit. Showering, swimming, even scuba diving it will be fine up to I believe 600 meters. The negative display, which some have said is too dark to read, I find no problem with. The light is fantastic and the deep setting of the face provides a sleek look. The only con I have with this watch is that the alarm is INCREDIBLY low volume and is typically not enough to wake me up. I'd say this watch sits no more than 3 feet from my head and I have yet to be awakened by it. A few reviewers have mentioned this as well and this is the only negative that really stands out to me. Overall, 5 stars and it's honestly a steal at $90 (what I paid). Highly recommended for anyone who does a lot of hiking/outdoors activities and manual labor/lots of working with hands and in spaces you'll bang it around.

I love this watch. Even though I work at night it seems to stay charged in the little bit of sun I'm in each day. Very seldom do I have a problem reading the face of the watch. It does not take much light for the numbers and letters to show you the time and date. The auto set function works fine. I just turn auto set on when I want to. I don't let it set every night. Some nights are better than others usually due to atmospheric conditions. It usually sets itself the first time I try though. I get the watch wet most every day. That is why I got a G-Shock after all. Whenever I wash my hands I get it wet usually on purpose. I've also banged it into doors and dropped it but it is still fine. I've had a G-Shock before that has an all metal band and case. I wore it for years and still have it. It is basically just like this one and I still use it on occasion. It is solar and auto setting and I still like it but I also like to buy watches so I got this all black one. I read that some people say the band is smaller or that the replacement bands are smaller but I disagree. I bought 2 replacements from different people and I've compared them with the one that came with the watch and with some Casio G-Shock watches I've had for 10 years or more and there is very little difference. My wrist is just bigger. I can't put the clasp in the same hole that I used to with the older watches. This new Casio fits me fine although I have to use the second hole in the band. That's cutting it kind of close I will say. But when I put on a replacement band it will be the same way. I love this watch and the solar power and self setting features. It is a rugged watch that keeps great time. I'm sure I'll buy another some day.

I got this in the mail today from Amazon, Open up the box and put on my wrist and it fits great .First Let me tell you lm not a big fan of negative display watches. I have 2 negative gshock watches. I have the Rangeman gw 9400-3 gshock which l Love. I'm a big gshock collector with over 35 gshock watches and 5 Casio Protrek watches. I have 2 Rangeman gshock watches. I have 4 Mudman gshocks. I have 2 Aviation Gshock watches 2 Gulfman gshocks and the King GXW56-1BJF gshock and way to many more to mention. I also have this watch in the positive display. That one is Solar power no Atomic. The model is the g2310r gshock which is a great watch. NOW back to this watch. This watch when I was looking at on the website. I thought it would be to dark to see the new. I'm 55 years old. I wear reading glasses sometimes when I read. .I new that the numbers are small.But I was really surprised how good you could see the numbers. The all black Looks great. You can wear this with any kind of clothing. The watch is perfect size. I have a 7 inch wrist size and it fits great. I have been wearing gshocks for almost 34 years. Since the first one came out in 1983. I Love all gshocks Big or small. This watch will Last a lifetime. I heard a lot of Police officer were them.They are also very popular in the Military. This watch will fit all your needs, This watch has a nice Stelth look. The watch is perfect. I might wear it to Church tomorrow. This is will look great in the woods while shooting your rifle. Or your at a boring Business meeting .This watch is even Military Approved. Buy the watch from Amazon for $97.00 .I buy most of my gshocks from Amazon. You can't find a better company. Amazon is the best. Enjoy this watch or any other gshock watch you buy. Remember that the best watch is the one that fits your wrist best.

This watch is 6 months old. About a month ago, it stopped keeping a full charge. No matter which, recommended by the manufacturer, method I tried, it will not hold a charge for longer than about 12, or 14 hours. This is extremely frustrating, as I like the watch when it is working. I have just opened a claim with the warranty department, and I was told that the process would take about two weeks, if it was an easy fix. If parts are needed to be ordered and replaced, it will add 4 - 6 weeks to the process. I realize that this is a first world problem, but 2 months without a watch that I've already paid for, and is only 6 MONTHS old, is pretty lame... I'll post again, as this is a work in progress. UPDATE: So fast forward to March 11th... after repeated calls to Asurion Watch Warranty, and countless battles with their reps, I FINALLY received a refund... however, after I repeatedly said to them that I did not want the watch anymore, that I just wanted my money back, they gave me the run around, and kept putting me in the "your refund email will be sent out next week" list. One of the reps said to me that it was a cycle that kept putting flags on my account, that would just keep recycling my problem into the following week, without an actual resolution. Had I not called and inquired as many times as I did, I'm sure they would have just forgotten about my refund, and hoped that I would too. This has been the WORST customer experience I have ever had with any product. Although I liked the watch very much, I guess you either have to pay through the nose for quality, because the rest is just junk...

Die Uhr funktioniert wunderbar, nur leider kann man das Display bei Tageslist nur schlecht ablesen. Für den Nachteinsatz ist diese Uhr Optimal.

Reloj pequeño difícil de leer por ser pantalla negativa en lugares oscuros, se ve muy bien al aire libre o en ambientes con micha luz. pieza muy recomendable por lo que ofrece, es solar, se conecta a los relojes atomicos para tener la hora precisa siemple, una gran pieza para quien no usa lentes con aumento. muy recomendable !

The features of this watch are similar to other basic solar radio G-Shocks with minor differences: 1. The mode order is World Time, Alarm, Stopwatch, Timer 2. Cannot adjust seconds in Timer mode (only hours and minutes) 3. The watch wears smaller than many other G-Shocks (although a little bigger than a Square) 4. The Multi Band 6 radio reception seems a little less consistent than my other Multi Band 6 G-Shocks but still usually syncs. As usual for Casio, it is supremely comfortable to wear and built to a very high quality. The negative display - yes, it is harder to read in daytime and you'll need to use the backlight in dim conditions where you might not have to with a positive display. But at night when it is quite dark, this watch is fantastic. The backlight only illuminates the digits so the contrast is excellent. The display is actually more legibile with the backlight on than positive display watches where the entire LCD panel illuminates and tends to wash out from some viewing angles. I have also noticed that the backlight tends to be dimmer on the solar G-Shocks, presumably to conserve power. In combination with the negative display, the result is a very pleasing, gentle, high contrast, high visibility backlight. No blasting your eyes with a square inch of bright green glow in the middle of the night. Enough illumination to see the time but not so bright as to wreck your night vision or wake you up or bother a sleeping spouse. All in all, I love this watch. It has quickly become my most worn G-Shock and one of my favourites overall. 10/10
