These things are awesome. Install was super easy (as far as the speakers are concerned- holes and wiring aren't Pyle's problem), and they look really, really good in my living room. I bought 6 of these for a 7.1 surround system in my living room, and all 6 arrived in perfect working order. Now for the neat stuff. Each speaker has two sets of spring clips, so you can hook up a stereo connection to each speaker, and get both left/right channels through one speaker, if your install calls for it. Additionally, I'm powering each speaker with one side of the Lepai 20W amps you can get here, and these things pound. With 20W RMS. Which is great. They are truly full range, too. My Skrillex sounds fantastic even with my 18" subwoofer off. The less-than-neat stuff: for all the obnoxious advertising on the boxes and in the description about how these are rated for 400W, you cannot fit anything larger than a 14G wire in the terminals. I had to strip the 12G wire I have down to 14AWG to get the wires cleanly in the terminals, and I'm not super excited about it. Yeah, 12G is hard core for even 400W, but I don't think it's that tall an order. Otherwise, these are great; I'm likely going to buy two more for my dining room, and another one for my bathroom so I too, can listen to them while I poop.

I bought these speakers for the covered porch in my new home in the midwest. They sounded great day 1, but had 1 problem. I've had them for ~ 2-1/2 years now, and the grilles constantly fall down. I was checking them the other day (to push the grilles back up again, and noticed that the cones have dried out and crumbled. Don't believe the Weather Proof claims, see my photos for proof. I contacted Pyle support and they told me that they only warranty them for 1 year. Not sorry to hear you had a bad experience, or anything like that, just your model only has a 1 year warranty. So good price yes, good sound initially yes, will it last? No. Does the manufacturer care that they don't last? No. If you don't care if you'll have to rip them out of your ceiling and replace them soon then take the leap, otherwise I would avoid them.

This speaker does play stereo; it has standard bare speaker connectors that you connect at the top and bottom of the back (it takes 2 sets of speaker wire; 1 for each channel). It connects inside the wall or ceiling by screw-locking binders (they go in flat, and when you screw them, they turn outward and grab onto the drywall or drop ceiling as tight as you screw it in. Just beautiful. Easy as pie installing. As for sound quality, it's definitely better than an average ceiling speaker. I got this for our bathroom, so people could sing in the shower or listen to music while they poop. The quality is perfect for that. It doesn't sound like an elevator speaker or store speaker. The bass is pretty good and the treble is great. It's not a Bose, but it's very good.

This was the second speaker of this exact brand and model that I had to replace. Both broke down. Plastic speakers broke down and stopped working. Both times I had to match the other in a pair. It's worth the $ and easy to replace. I’m a 65 year old woman.

I purchased these speakers to be part of a whole home audit solution for my kids bedrooms where it was only practical to put one speaker but I still wanted the stereo sound. I was quite leary about a speaker this cheap (was $35 when purchased) but after reading the review decided to give them a try (worst case I was only out a few bucks and could replace them.) After getting them installed in the kids bedrooms I was pleasantly surprised at the sound quality that they produce. The bass is fairly responsive and the trebles quite crisp. I ended up installing one in the bathrooms as well as again for the price, the sounds was really good. I am powering them straight from a Russound C5 controller which produces 40W per channel and even at this power rating, the speakers perform well. I would definitely recommend these speakers for this type of application and would use them again.

I generally don't write reviews, but in this case, I think it might be helpful to others. I bought a pair of these speakers in 2013 and they worked great! Sounded good... everything I wanted. Five years later.... the speakers are in total decay. The plastic AND the cones are so brittle that they literally fall apart in your hands. It was difficult to remove the speakers from the ceiling, because the just crumbled and made a big mess on the floor beneath. I noticed that the faceplate cover was slipping down and often falling off during parties when the music was louder. This was about three years after I bought them. So, I caulked one of them into place... and it worked for awhile. Then, we had a New year's eve party this year. The music was turned up about half way at one point, (cuz it was a good song) and the cover just fell off and onto one of my guests. Embarrassing! I didn't realize how bad it was until I took the speakers down. Take a look at the pictures. The only reason I didn't rank the speakers with one star is because they were good speakers when they were new, and they were cheap. I guess you generally get what you pay for. If you want a speaker that will last for about +/-4years, then this is the speaker for you. If not, then probably not for you. The pictures tells the story.

I bought two of these speakers to mount under my outside patio awning. I wanted something that was weather proof and would look good mounted in the ceiling. I was just looking for something that would survive the elements and I wasn't too concerned about the sound quality. I was more than pleasantly surprised when I hooked them up to my Denon AVR3312CI receiver. The sound quality far exceeded my expectations and they pump out much more volume than I would have expecected with a speaker this size. I'd recommend these to anyone looking for an inexpensive outdoor speaker setup. The only complaint is that I needed to cut the sound hole about an 1/8 of an inch bigger than the template to get the speakers mounted. This was a little bit annoying but not a huge problem.

I've had my speakers for over a year, and these are definitely mediocre at best. 1 speaker vibrates and if you have anything with a remote amount of bass they break up and sound terrible unless you turn the volume lower than half way. Definitely do not reccomend !

The sound quality is good. Unfortunately, the quality of plastic material used to make the speaker housing is not so good. After ten years of service, the housings of two PYLE speakers in the bathroom ceilings have crumbled into pieces. The speakers are still functioning, but I had to throw they away as I couldn't use them. Purchased two new speakers of the same model to make sure that the wiring and mounting hardware are compatible with the original ones. Otherwise would buy something different.
