FTCE PreKindergarten/Primary PK-3 Secrets Study Guide: FTCE Test Review for the Florida Teacher Certification Examinations

I purchased book in new condition. There is a lot to read and it's mainly in paragraph form. Much of the information covered was on the test. As another reviewer stated there's a section in the book that's not tested-Social Studies. I knew my weakest area(s) was possibly math and definitely science. I really spent some time reading the science section. Know the types of rocks and the planets. Math sections was helpful, however, the test had mainly scenario type questions and there were a few actual problem based questions, so you'll need to know how to solve math problems. I can't really discuss what was on my test, but the math section with graphs and number sense was useful. The math section of the book was helpful for me. You will want to know the writing skills/stages, and child development stages-Piaget. I found mnemonics to help me remember the stages order, age, and what it consists of. The book also includes one practice test with answers and explanations--I wish there were at least 2 practice tests. I did find some typo errors here and there. There are secrets to testing included to help you study better, helpful strategies, and a link for additional bonus material. Throughout the book you will find websites to Review videos to further your understanding of the topic. I appreciated that because some of the material I needed a visual to help me process the information I read. The sites are all Mometrix, so feel confident in knowing that. Overall, I liked the book, and it has a lot of information. There were sections of the book that I skipped as it pertained to daycare workers or early childhood programs. Much of it did not relate to the PreK-3 test I signed up for. I felt like those looking to work in a daycare or early childhood to age 5 or 6, would benefit most from this FTCE Secrets book. I'm sure there were sections that helped me. Much of the information I may have learned while in school and/or as well as working with elementary students for 2 yrs. I studied for about 2 weeks. I passed all sections of the FTCE PreK-3 test. P.S. Bring a quick healthy snack (banana, peanuts, etc) to consume during your short break. The tests are long. Good Luck!

I am not sure how to review this item. It does give some amount of preparation for the exam but I think the language Arts/Reading section is not quite on point. I passed all other sections. The developmental section is good. The Math and Science Sections carried less of what is in the book and I think my performance on those sections were based mostly on what I knew prior to studying for the exam. The Math is more practical than the book outlines it. So is the Science. The book carries a social studies section but the exam does not test for it. The question and answer section capture a bit of content that is not in the study material and then the exam is also slightly different.

Just started using the book to get ready for my teacher certification exam. The book is well organized and easy to follow. The Study Skills DVD will probably reinforce the learning process.Will reviw further after I take the test.

This study guide was just okay to me. There was a lot of information that wasn't on the test, and there was also a lot of information on the test that wasn't even touched on in the book. You can very easily find the same practice questions that are included in the back of the book online. The book also includes a social studies section which was a complete waste of time to sit and read because it's not on the test. I read and studied the book cover to cover and only passed three out of the four sections on the actual test--and I don't even think that this had much to do with it. Like someone previously mentioned, the Language Arts section was basically useless as it had nothing to do with what was on the actual exam.If you need a refresher on your childhood developmental knowledge, then that's probably all this book is really good for. Every other section was either too vague or too repetitive and didn't include much of what was on the test.

not sure if all this contents will be on the actual test !!! But rather than that it helps me a lot and gain more confidence taking the test.

This has been a great refresher on items that I had forgotten about. It has woke up my brain.

This book was recommended by a teacher who had already passed the exam. I find that this information is very informative and meets my needs. I find that the study test is useful but most importantly it gives the answers and explanations.

What I found most helpful about this product was the breadth and the depth of information provided for mastering the test and going into that testing site confident and knowledgeable. I have used SECRETS study aids before and they never disappoint. I trust them fully to help me make gigantic steps towards success.
