Bad quality, doesn't work.
Terrible. I don't know when Zippo became so unreliable, but this is a shame. Got this for backpacking and thank goodness I brought a good old fashioned Bic lighter as a backup. The Zippo wouldn't light for anything-- not sure what the problem is, but I won't be buying a Zippo ever again.

Just in case when I need a fire starter
It's okay just doesn't hold lighter fluid long

Disappointing quality. Works fine.
Somehow I thought that 91 years of manufacturing experience with virtually no technical advancement would have left Zippo making heirloom quality, American-made, legacy-experience, collector products. Something that would make me proud. I expected a perfect finish. What I got was something that looked like a 7th grade shop class painted with a broom. It’s like a Harley vs. a BMW. A crude implement, but at least the modern Harley bikes have decent manufacturing integrity. If I wanted just to make fire, I can get a Bic. The Zippo is supposed to be something special, traditional and nostalgic. I suppose a 70’s Chevy Vega could be described that way too. If these products were made in Japan or China, they wouldn’t ship. The factory managers would be too embarrassed to put their name on the box. These things are a joke. The packaging is gorgeous, but once you have eyes on the actual product it’s pure disappointment. Perhaps the unpainted models come out better. Don’t get me wrong. I’ll keep this and I’ll use it. But every time I do it will remind me of the dysfunction of American manufacturing that I thought we had come past.

I bought a matte orange Zippo slim and was so excited to use it. I was unpleasantly surprised by the quality of the product. The matte finish is sloppy on the bottom of the lighter, and there’s splotchy patches of matte paint inside the lighter cap. The matte finish chipped almost instantly on the edge of the lighter. I put a healthy amount of lighter fluid in, but the lighter seems to dry up almost overnight with barely any use. I’m pretty sure this is an authentic Zippo, because the markings are all there, and I bought directly from Amazon, but I was somewhat shocked by just how poorly such a famous brand performed. I might try the standard size without the matte finish and see if it’s a better product.
