Through kiln-drying, the well-dried wood has a low moisture content so that it does not bend, warp, or twist. This can be an important consideration as most residential environments have central air conditioning and heating. Some imported materials will develop serious quality issues under this exposure which may vary considerably from their original location. The canvas or fabric used, is stretched over and around this framework and secured to the rear, usually with heavy staples. This overlap is usually 1.5” to 2” on all sides, depending on the overall dimensions. This process flattens the image for a finished appearance with the desired size visible. The stretched image can be displayed as it appears or set into another decorative style of frame.
