I rescued an 11 year old Silky Terrier 5 months ago. He had been with his owner since he was 6 weeks old and because he was getting older and "just going to die soon" she didn't want him anymore. Tanner (the canine I'm referring to) had a full workup at the vet after I got him and he is completely healthy. Tanner has many more years to live. The only issue with Tanner is anxiety. And I can understand why, his whole world has been taken away and he's thrown into this new environment. But it's been 5 months and the anxiety has not subsided.
