The best product so far!!! Must have patience
I have a right drop foot that was affecting my stability & started to lose confidence walking 6 months ago. This is due to Muscular Distrophy that weakens skeletal muscles through out the body. I had tried orthopedic Hard plastic in the past. They work but very uncomfortable and almost difficult if not impossible to drive. 6+months ago I tried the new Technology AFO's but too hard on the calf, the knee and the foot for extended walks or extended wear.I tried many products from Amazon and other sites for a period of about 1 month each. Costs ranging from $40 - $4000. Hard, soft, electronic pulsating etc. At 1st I was not convinced that Ossur Foot Up would really work, but It felt very comfortable. I had questions and they got a therapy specialist on the phone to answer my questions, which made me feel better about their product.Initially I had a hard time getting used to and it took about 2 weeks for me to feel comfortable. I started using on the right foot. I use w the Inlay socks and shoes. I workout about 2-3hrs at the gym a day every day (walking and moving) and ride the bike for about 7miles. Ossur Foot Up provided me stability , restored my confidence in walking. My wife suggested I use it on the left foot as well. Although I did not need it, but muscles have memory and a tendency to copy bad habits. So I did. The ability to walk Hill-to-toe also affects the back muscles and returns them to a healthier stateUnfortunately the Inlays got completely wored out in a short time. I contacted the vendor. They requested I send the Inlays and within 2 weeks I had a replacement inlays - Fantastic support. The new ones are lasting much longer than the old ones.I use Ossur Foot Up everyday. Now is a natural feeling & very comfortable. It helps keep my toes from dropping, because of the elastic (Inlay) it provides some minor therapeutic movement to the foot muscles, unlike the hard AFO's and I am more confidant walking long distances and wearing it all day. At the end of the day, my legs and feet are not tired. Also, people can not tell I am wearing a modified AFO. A few friends have noticed that my stability walking & posture have improved lately. I think this is worth the price.I wish the manufacturer would provide a way to adjust the length of inlay. This would make Ossur Foot Up the perfect footup AFO. This is because there are varying degrees of foot drop and if it could be adjusted this product would exceed expectations!!!!I hope this helps in selecting a modified AFO and keep up those Toes !!!

Easy to use and works well
This is the granddaddy of lifting AFOs and works great. It's more formal and highs better than some of the other ones. Most importantly, it goes on and off more quickly than the others. The shoe lifting technology is superior to the other cheap ones too. This is good when you just need a little lift for foot drop or spasticity.

One size does not fit all
This product fails at its only purpose. It comes in two pieces. One wraps around your ankle and the other attaches to your shoe. Attaching to the shoe is the main problem. This is accomplished by inserting a flexible plastic base between the shoelaces. The plastic piece is fairly wide and would not fit because the tongue of my shoes are attached to the shoe body for almost it's entire length, so I had to trim it to fit but that's not a big deal. The "elastic" strap that connects the plastic insert to the ankle brace has almost no stretch to it. After inserting it close to the top of the shoe, it provided no lift so I moved it down to the second position from the top. Note that this is the only adjustment you can make. This seemed ok until after a few steps the bottom of the plastic insert slid out from between the laces, letting the strap go slack again. The plastic base needs to be longer to prevent this. When I trimmed the base it was width not length that I altered, so that is not the cause of the issue. The end result is this brace cannot work with my shoes. I've already cut up the plastic insert so i doubt it can be returned, I'll look into this.If you do choose to give it a go, be aware that the ankle piece runs very small. I am average size and it is barely long enough to get around my ankle.

FOOT-UP: works well; light; comfortable; unnoticeable; may need momentary assistance to apply
The FOOT-UP is great. It does its job and wears comfortably, hidden beneath most trousers... though I suspect under particularly skinny jeans (not part of my world) there would be a problem as it is a little bulky. In most cases, it is simply unnoticeable to others.- the device is entirely removable and may be transferred between shoes.- the device is very strong but very light.- unaware of color choices beyond black- sensibly, be sure to be fitted for your size by your therapist or be sure that the item is exchangeable for a more correct size.- my seller did not stock my size, but as I knew what it was, the seller quickly acquired.THERE ARE SOME PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ON THE PART OF THE WEARER:- it MUST be used with LACE-UP shoes. Be aware it will NOT work with the more convenient VELCRO-STRAP closure shoes many of us prefer to use.- therefore YOU must be able to tie your own shoes, or have someone to help you.- likewise, even though it is quite easy to use, you must have sufficient two-hand dexterity to Velcro-wrap-strap the FOOT-UP around your own leg-ankle, or have someone to help you.- the FOOT-UP has two pieces: 1) attaches beneath the laces but above the tongue of the shoe, the other piece 2) wraps around the lower leg-ankle.... THEN the toes-foot must be momentarily bent upward towards the lower leg, so the two part may be brought together and attache to one another by a simple clip. This act, completed in 3 seconds, requires the use of TWO modestly capable hands or have someone to help you.- if you need help getting it on, you may need help in the EASIER process of removing it.- once it is first fitted into a shoe, beneath the laces but over the tongue, then with only a few practice runs the FOOT-UP can be donned or applied in well under a casual minute.- light, easy, practical, does as promised;-bought mine 07-2014 for $57 (free shipping).
