Boveda 65% Humidity Control Packs, Size 60, 12-Ct - Long-Term Aging

Like most all of us that slowly became a cigar aficionado, I have experimented with many different humidors and humidification methods. Initially I went the cheap route, as I am sure most of us do, against the wisdom of the experienced, but in the end here we are. There is nothing more accurate than Boveda packs in maintaining humidity levels. Besides a fast response time, they will also absorb humidity. Most other methods will not do this allowing humidity to rise beyond desired levels. An overhumidified cigar is a bad smoke, but we are also all rightfully paranoid about beetles. In the typical 25-50 cigar cheap glass top humidor that we all started off with, these packs (and even the 320g) have a short life. Those humidors are leaky, to put it mildly. After fighting with them for a couple years, I moved on to tupperdors with cedar trays. After seasoning the trays and filling with 50 cigars, I used 1 60g Boveda pack and 1 of the bar humidifiers. After a year aging with a half dozen openings for air exchange during that time, the humidity is rock solid and the Boveda pack is down to about ½ life. This is truly the set and forget method for long term aging. After 1-2 years aging, that tuppedor is brought out of storage. The Boveda pack is used up by the time all the cigars have been smoked and the cycle repeats. I do not attempt to rejuvenate them as they last so long with this method. To be fair, even the bar humidifiers filled with Cigarjuice (water and propylene glycol mixture) maintain a rock solid 70% in a sealed tuppedor. However, they are slow to react and will not absorb excess moisture. Pairing one of them with a Boveda to extend the pack’s life has been the perfect combination for me. I prefer 65% for all my cigars while the bar humidifiers stabilize at 70%. I have found that the bar uses most of its juice in the initial stabilization leaving the Boveda to maintain my desired 65% over the long haul….a perfect combination.

I added the 65 boveda packs to my 100 count wood humidor and also added packs to my two tupperware containers. Everything is holding humidity right around 67% flawlessly. I have had these packs being used for about 1 month now and they are still going strong without needing to change them out. I think these will last at least another month, maybe two more months, before I will need to change them out for a new boveda pack. No mess, no water, no headaches... just throw in the pack and let it work its magic. When it dries up, just replace it and you are good to go.

I have been using Boveda Humidity Control Packs for my Cuban cigars for more than 10 years. They maintain the humidity in my humidors at a constant 65%. A 60 gram pack good for 25 cigars. Highly Recommended.

I use these 65s for completely closed (air tight) cigar storage. I wouldn't use them for standard wood humidors as I think it's harder to maintain humidity as those tend to leak too much. I use 69s for the wood humidors, 65s for plastic lexans. They work well, but they come at a cost. they're very easy to use and don't require as much attention as the distilled water stones.

Had apond of product that was very dry an this product brought the moisture right back to where it should be. I would definitely recommend. I watched the moisture level with a cheap little digital moisture meter which I put inside the container and it was back to the correct moisture within 2 days. Definitely recommend.

Having read that the optimum humidity for cigar storage is 65 degrees and excess of 75 degrees ruins them, I calibrated several digital hygrometers. Then tried several methods: the “Green foam” with distilled water that most humidors come with (unsatisfactory) and the transparent beads with PPG (marginal). As an occasional cigar smoker, aware that some cigars could end-up being stored for several years and thereby ruined by unsuitable humidity, I kept experimenting and chanced upon Boveda. To my delight the Boveda packs do exactly what they say on the box. They keep cigars at the desired humidity. Care needs to be taken: Most humidors are im-perfect and let in outside air, some more than others. Therefore you’ll need to carefully follow manufacturer’s instructions, not least first “seasoning” the humidor. Having done that, the packs work great and are recommended. Of course, in a leaky humidor you may have to compensate: A calibrated hygrometer showing 62 degrees with a 65 pack would mean the humidor is “leaking” 3 degrees humidity. In which case, perhaps the next up (69) is the right pack to generate a “real” 66. Some experimentation is in order. As an aside, being somewhat concerned that placing a Boveda pack on top of cigars may not be elegant (although approved by the manufacturer) I purchased a Spanish cedar “cage” that can hold 2 or 4 Boveda packs, also made by Boveda, that magnetically adheres to the a humidor’s lid.

2014年9月に購入して、約７ヶ月使ってきてからレビューを書く今更感を置いといて… そのままヒュミドールに置くだけで湿度管理ができてしまう楽さがすごいです。 多くのヒュミドールに付いてくるスポンジでは、精製水を使わないといけないとか、精製水を入れるタイミングとか、入れる量の加減とかで 折角の葉巻を過剰加湿や過剰乾燥などで無駄にしてしまう可能性があります。 Bovedaのパックでは指定されている湿度に+/-1%の正確さで2ウェイ制御し、過剰加湿も過剰乾燥もしません。 Bovedaパックでは置き場所も困りません。 公式サイトによるとBovedaパックを直接葉巻の上に置いても葉巻には影響がありません。 「それじゃ見栄えがちょっと…」という方は公式のホルダーがあるのですが、どうやらアマゾンJPショップには置いてないです…（2015/4/16時点） 私はSIGLOの50本入りヒュミドールを使っておりますが、中にはBovedaパックを2つ入れています。 今では葉巻を9本入れて湿度が64%~65%にすごく安定なのですが、15本以上入れる方は69%の方がよかったりするかもしれません。
