How do I remove the plastic pouring contraption. I want to insert a vaccum wine saver stopper.

My only suggestion would be to pour the oil into a separate bottle that will accept a vacuum stopper or even a purpose made bottle to keep an air tight seal.

It's not a dumb question dear, as we are having issues with some faulty lids that are hard to get off. So, Hold the neck of the lid firmly and then twist the top of the lid off. And it should come off. Otherwise, resort to a plier but hold the neck of the lid, not bottle neck, tight.
