Does heating the product affect its effectiveness?

It wont. But dont use direct heat. You can place the tub to melt the shea butter in a bowl of hot water.

What are the ingredients?

Shea butter is only yellow at the beginning or the season with young immature nuts. So they have added color. My understanding from previous yellow Shea is that it is a leaf still all natural.

It is smooth as shown in the picture, but it is very firm and you must dig with a bit of effort to chunk it out when you are ready to use it. I love this stuff, it is wonderful in soaps.
