High quality, worth the money
I purchased this screen on Wirecutter’s recommendation to accompany my new TCL A1 projector. It’s excellent quality, very sturdy, and quite heavy. The size was perfect for my space and my projector’s picture is as good as can possibly be on this screen. I needed to enlist additional upper-body strength to get this screen set up in my space because it is large, unwieldy, and heavy, but once it was installed, it pulls down and retracts with ease. Yes, it’s pricey, but I’m confident it will outlast my projector and I’m very pleased with the purchase.

Excellent quality for the price
I have been using this screen for little over a year now and during this time I have moved to a different place as well. So, I can comment on both the durability as well as the display quality of the screen for my 720p Panasonic LCD projector. My projector is about 4 years old and while the overall picture quality is still good, the contrast is not as good (as you'd expect in a 2005 model). Before this I was using a DYI screen made with a Home Depot particle board and paint as advised by many in AVS Forum. While this was much better than the dry wall, I was still not getting as good picture as my projector was capable of producing. And also I wanted a screen that would enhance the contrast without degrading the brightness as well as have wide viewing angle so that viewers can sit anywhere in the room. This screen has met all my expectations. The blacks are darker now and the brightness has also increased compared to my DYI screen making the picture pop out and more realistic. Even though the specs are not as good, I still enjoy my 4 year old projector more than my high-end PN50B850 plasma TV, even though the TV is quite good. It's probably due to the sheer size of the screen (106") that makes the movie experience more like a theater one. For sports during the day, the screen/projector combination is quite bright if I reduce the size to about 80" or so, which is still much bigger than my TV. About durability of the product, the internal spring is still working well even after at least 200 uses. I even keep the screen hanging for weeks at a time and so far no issues. We also moved to a different place and I don't see any issue even after the move. I'd recommend this screen to anyone who is looking to get the best picture out of a mid-range projector in a near-dark room.

Great customer service and great screen
Installed the 150" screen over my garage door and set up a quick movie (rhymes with "Blinding Temo") just to see how it would look with some ambient light still. As you can see - even with the sun setting behind me, there was PLENTY of contrast and overall picture quality got a lot of "wows" from the neighbors. Two of their kids grabbed chairs and just posted up for the duration. I'd say that's an instant-win. The screen initially didn't retract all the way and was veeery slow to go back up. I contacted Elite Screens customer service and they sent me the instructions to add tension back into the rod. Took me 5 minutes with an extra set of hands from my wonderful wife. Tossed it back up and *boom*, worked like a charm. Retracts fully unassisted at a reasonable pace and locks in place. I was able to pull it down and have it "lock in" at plenty of intervals (maybe around an inch per "step"?), so I wasn't sure what the other reviewers were having trouble with...mine dialed in nicely. I'd say it's a genuine win. Good customer service (they got back to me in less than a day) and good quality screen for the money. Neighborhood movie night and game night just went to a whole new level.

UPDATE FEB 2025: Screen no longer retracts
I will leave up my original review, but please keep in mind that this was a brand new product when I made it. The screen just about 30 minutes ago on Sunday, February 9th of 2025 made a loud pop and the screen now hangs dead with no ability to retract. It lasted about 9 months, which is just not long enough. For that I have reduced my rating from 4 stars to 1 star. The following is my original review: The screen has good contrast. There are bright crease lines on several points in the screen that are quite visible without a picture on the screen but not when in use. The screen is thick and doesn’t let any ambient light in through the blacked out back. I’m using a 4K laser projector with the 150” screen and it’s working quite well. You aren’t going to be able to mount it unless you have perfect stud spacing. However, it is relatively simple to do a ceiling joist mount with some simple hardware store eye screws. I just measured the distance between the mounting holes and drilled into the ceiling joists (beams) horizontally and screwed eye screws into the holes. Pop some carabiners into the eye screw holes and bam, mounted into the ceiling firmly. I can’t speak to the durability or sturdiness because it’s been up for all of two hours, but I’ll update this review as needed. I purchased the extended warranty through Amazon just to be safe. So far, it seems to be a solid product for the money in a market where similar products are at least double the price. I was previously using a $30 screen, so this is definitely an upgrade provided that nothing goes wrong with the retraction mechanism.

Took a gamble and it paid off....excellent screen
I had a dedicated theater room with a fixed screen that I needed to make more toddler friendly. I came to the tough decision of turning the dedicated theater room into a general media room. I had to get rid of the fixed screen and get a pull up screen so I can place a tv behind it to watch. Initially, I was scared off from manual screens by all the talk of waves in the screens. Some had even mentioned that the screens were wavy the instant they put it up. I decided to take a chance and purchase this to see how bad it was. I installed it last night, and I'm happy to report that there were no waves at all. The screen was perfect. I cant speak for its longevity, but I hope it remains this way. I was also concerned about going from my fixed screen, which has a 1.3 gain, to this one which is 1.1 gain. Again, I'm happy to report that it made no difference and the picture looked just as good, if not better, than the screen I was using. The screen was very easy to install, but I do have to give a couple of negative remarks. First, it doesnt come with parts to hang the screen on the ceiling. This was a little annoying to find out. You get excited and want to hang it up quickly, only to find out you need to run to home depot to buy a chain or hook to hang from the ceiling. Even with wall mounting, you still need to go out and purchase screws. Nothing major, but very annoying. The second thing is the screen does have an odor to it. Its nothing that will make you sick, but it is there. I'm hoping it doesnt last long. All in all, I was very surprised and pleased with the screen. For the cost, you cant beat it. My fixed screen, which I made myself, cost me almost as much as this one did. UPDATE: Well, it didnt take long to start developing waves. I had pretty much left the screen down and it was fine. Once I started to retract it and leave it retracted, i noticed waves starting to develop. Was hoping it would take longer than a couple of weeks for this to happen....

Great screen at a great price.
Well I got this screen for my Epson 8350 which is mounted about 20' away on the opposite wall. I have pretty decent light control in the man cave but not the best. This screen was a good compromise for my PJ in my room because it is bright enough in the worst conditions and fantastic when conditions are ideal. No it is not the best for ideal conditions but I am not going to sit in a pitch black room most of the time so it works well with the Epson which I give a lot of credit to for its' flexibility. Item shipped fast which I really like from Amazon, but, there was a hole/gouge in that long box when FedEx delivered it. I could see a scratch/small dent on the case through the hole in the box out in the front yard when it was delivered. I almost refused it but took a chance. Glad I did because it was negligable upon unpacking and on the back side of the case where it cannot be seen when mounted and has no affect on the operation of the screen. So, screen goes up and down no problem. It goes down to the same spot which is fully extended for me without any tricks and fanfare from the projector, very happy with that. It did smell new when I got it but I hung it outside for about 3 hours and no problems inside after that. No bubbles or seperation. I am a happy camper except for the condition Fedex delivered the box in which I cannot say was their fault or not for sure. It did get here quickly and it works fine so that is why 4 stars instead of 5. The box damage was a downer but it did not affect the operation of the screen. I went with a manual screen because I plan to use it out back this football season occasionally. It comes down very easily from the wall inside and goes up quickly outside.

So so ... definitely a low budget screen
I ordered the 92" screen (M92UWH) from Amazon, to replace a 9 year old Optoma 92" slow retraction manual screen that started having mechanical problems. I have a Panasonic PT-A8000U 3 LCD projector. I needed to stay with 92" due to wall location. The screen arrived without any apparent damage to the packaging nor the casing. So far so good. I mounted the screen to a wall, with a 2"x2" backing, attached to studs, with a short (3") 2"x2" piece attached under the main 2"x2" at both ends (thus effectively being a 2" x 4" at the ends) to give more support under the end caps. So far, so good. I did not notice any odors that some reviewers complained about. When I lowered the screen, I noticed that the two vertical edges had a curl inward. This became more apparent when illuminating from two lamps from the two sides (see photo). Of course these lamps would be off when viewing a movie, but I wanted to check the flatness of the screen. The dreaded vertical wave lines I have read about, also became apparent and slight waves in the material were seen. However, when viewing a movie, even in low ambient light, the curls were not seen and did not seem to affect the viewing. I will leave the screen down for a few days and hopefully will flatten some. Time will tell. I only watch movies on weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) so it may take a while to works out the curls abd waves. I did notice that overall, the screen and casing seemed a but flimsy and not as good quality as my old Optoma, which weighs around 25 lbs. The Elite weighs around 15 lbs. Thinner materials over-all. Pull-down and retraction appears to work ok. You do have to hold the lanyard for the whole retraction and slow it as it approaches the top because if not slowing enough, it makes a clanging sound when the weight bar meets the case. I guess this will take a bit of practice to get right. I understand that this is a budget screen, but the Optoma being in the same general price range, I expected better quality material. The Optoma screen has a 1.0 gain. The ELite, a 1.1 gain. That's a 10% increase in reflectivity. I did, hoever, not notice a difference. In summary, I would say the Elite is an ok budget screen. Just ok. Hopefully, over time, the curl issue will dissipate. With apparent lower material quality then the Optoma, I am not expecting the same life out of this screen.

Great product, but not easy to hang by itself without buying more supplies.
The screen itself looks high quality and fancy, but there are some points of contention that pertain to installation: If you mount it on the ceiling, you'll need to buy chains to hang it on and there are 2 points to hang it from - one on each end of the casing, but that should be expected. If you mount it on a WALL however, the unit comes with 3 drywall anchors (the type that you hammer into the dry wall and then put a screw through. The problem is that they are USELESS - no drywall can support the weight of this thing on those anchors alone unless it's the thickest drywall you've ever come across - add to it the fact that there are only 2 hanging points - one on each end of the unit - to support the whole thing. Wanna hang it on studs instead? Great idea! Except, since there are only 2 hanging points, you have to pray to God that the ends align with your studs, and if they don't, you're SOL. My solution - since I bought the 120" screen (which means the casing is about 109" long), I went to Home Depot and bought a primed board (that looks like a baseboard but a bit thicker) that was 10' long (120" - plenty to hang the casing on) - I bought a primed one because it was white and matched my wall. I went home and screwed that board onto the wall against the studs - now there's a nice sturdy board to hang the casing onto. With all that being said, I still gave it a 5 star review because, frankly, there's nothing really they could have done to make it "fit" on my wall - there are no anchors that will hold it against a drywall, and everyone's stud placement is different. The product itself, however, is high quality and though it really doesn't make a highly-noticeable difference between shining it on a wall or shining it on a screen, it still looks a lot fancier if you have a screen to project on, really gives a "home theater" feeling that I was going for in my man cave.

Very nice screen
I am very pleased with this product. It reflects the projector image nicely, it is not too bright or dim. Once extended, the screen stays flat without any wrinkles or waves. My HD projector's image is looking significantly different on this screen than on the wall. It is quite light and very easy to install - I did it by myself, without any help and it took me less than 5 minutes. The only downside is the synthetic-plastic smell that comes off the screen first few days so you need to vent the room well or you may get an headache. I would recommend this screen to anyone who is looking for a good quality product at a reasonable price.

Meine erste Leinwand

Awful experience
Received a duplicate item with no logo, no brand. When I tried to return it, I needed to pay the shipping costs. Waste of money. Duplicate local item is sent, and returning it costs more.
