In his bestselling book Conscious Living , pioneering therapist Gay Hendricks taught couples how to find balance and happiness in relationships. Now he gives us Conscious Living , a practical guide for the individual that brings new insights into a fundamental truth of daily truth of daily life. Five simple lessons of "conscious living", rooted in the ancient traditions of Stoicism and Taoism, help us overcome obstacles and fears and awaken our own creativity. Review: Amazing. This book gives us a close look at his own life story as well as some of his Biggest Ideas on how to live consciously. - โAt its simplest, conscious living is the art of feeling your feelings, speaking authentically, knowing your life purpose, and carrying out effective actions that contribute to your well-being and the well-being of others. The moment we commit ourselves to living consciously, we embark on a journey of wonder through the real world, on a sacred path of infinite practicality. I believe that committing to the journey makes us fully human. I believe also that wholehearted participation in the journey is our very best way of returning thanks for the gift of life. Life comes to us freely; we wake up one day, and weโre in it. Conscious living is the art of expressing gratitude for the gift of life by learning and loving as much as we can until the moment weโre not here.โ โMy purpose was this: to expand in love and creativity every day and to assist those who are interested to expand in their ability to be more loving and creative.โ ~ Gay Hendricks from Conscious Living As you know if youโve read the Note on Gay Hendricksโ great book, The Big Leap, Gay is a close friend and mentor of mine and now a business partner with PhilosophersNotes. Itโs a refreshing breath of fresh air to be in his presence and experience a human being actually living the truths he so passionately believes. Gay got his Ph.D. from Stanford the year I was born, was a professor at the University of Colorado for a couple decades and has led people through over 20,000 (!!!) counseling sessions over the last 30+ years. Amazing. This book gives us a close look at his own life story as well as some of his Biggest Ideas on how to live consciously. Itโs a fun, inspiring and transformative read I highly recommend! Iโm excited to share some my favorite Big Ideas: 1. The Infinite Quest - Letโs rock it! 2. Magic: - Unexpected forms. 3. Let Go - Of the past. 4. One-Selved Organisms - Are you one? 5. Stoics Rock! - Seriously. Go Epictetus, Aurelius & Seneca! (More goodness--including PhilosophersNotes on 250+ books at http://www.brianjohnson.me) Review: A life changer, for real - Read this after going through the Loving book - and I love this one just as much. I shared a copy with a friend, as we both go through similar life challenges. I got different things from Living and Loving, and recommend both regardless of one's relationship status. Living will open your mind and your heart to all the dark places you try to forget, and once lit, you learn what to do with those dark places. I can't recommend this book enough - if everyone tried to live consciously we'd all be in such a better place with ourselves and society. This book is especially helpful if life has you down, you're at a crossroads, or just need to finally get to living the way you want. It's simple, and you have all you need already to change your experience - this book just shows you how to use the tools.

A life changer, for real
Read this after going through the Loving book - and I love this one just as much. I shared a copy with a friend, as we both go through similar life challenges. A Must Read
I started by listening to his "Big Leap" Audible Book and fell in love with his style and authenticity. I highly recommend this book to everybody. He breaks down the process of discovering your own inner authority and discover your own gifts and magic. Tools to communicate and value relationships and really be living a conscious life. It is not all hype and self help fluffy it's just a real guy telling his real story then sharing his expertise. Here's a great quote from the book "In time this realization led me to see that my job now was to be a producer and distributor of love, not a consumer! I dropped the restless, mindless search for love in all the wrong places. In fact, I dropped the search for love anywhere outside myself. Instead, I began to look for the places in me that needed loving" Gay Henndricks. Awesome

I love this book
I love this book! I had to read it for a school assignment, and wow, I learned so much about myself and how to literally be a better human being.I think every single person should read this book. Imagine how much better the world would be! Gay talks about the importance of honest and integrity, which seems to be over looked in every day life. His approach takes a moment to get use to, but once you open your mind and heart to the message, you will get a lot out of what he has to share. Please buy it, it will surprise and inspire you.

Excellent, Effective, All-Encompasing....THE ANSWER TO EVERYTHING
I have read a zillion books on the subjects covered in this book. Somehow, I especially loved this one! It is clear, concise, all-encompassing, POWERFUL. If you a serious about having a more fulfilling life, read this book and put it to work. I am a therapist and am considering ordering many copies to give to my clients and the single most important answer to any dilemma they are facing. I also am giving it as a Christmas gift to my dearest friends. Thank you, Gay Hendricks for your commitment.

Brilliant. Heart filled journey into struggle for existence.
Ive been reading this book from last few months because I had to practise the priniciples alongside. I admit I have to read this book again and again in order to apply the mindset and body principles to my life. One other book of art of living consciously by Dr Nathaniel Branden was a companion with this book. Honestly this book will make you feel lighter, heavy and emotional and sensible. If you are a person who thinks rationally and believe in Reason, I think you need this book more. The core of this book is this: there are certain ways of using ones mind and body that will reduce unnecessary suffering and create potential for joy in life. Are you willing to learn and awake the brave child within you ? I need to read this book again. My review is incomplete since I need to learn more by applying thr principles more. Give this book a try, you'll learn what you should learn early in life...not when you are old.

Read and save your relationship
Iโm not a fan of self-help books, but this one I would definitely promote. Super helpful, practical advice on how to be who you really are in the context of a relationship, and therefore how to have the relationship you really want. Highly recommended.

An amazing voyage of discovery
What Gay Hendricks doesn't know about relationships and self-awareness is really not worth knowing. This book is densely packed with guidance, experience and many, many moments of true enlightenment. I have found that I go back to the beginning every time I finish it, in order that I never forget any of the lessons that it teaches. With real commitment and a real will to improve your life, this book will change you forever.

Great book once you get past the intro
I had to skim over the first section and other parts were a bit waffly, but the general points are reallu helpful. It has turned out tp be the self help book I didn't know I needed. It has made a huge difference to my attitude to my job and has made me realise that it is US who decides our purpose in life.
