Diary of a Motor City Hitman: The Chester Wheeler Campbell Story

The MOST Riveting Real Life Gangster Story You Will Ever Read
I could not put this book down until I finished it and I continue to read it over. I lived in Detroit at the time these events occurred and knew of Chester Wheeler Campbell, he is a true legend in Detroit's underworld. There are many other fascinating characters in this book...it is very well written. The author really gathered some normally hard to get facts about Chester and other mobsters in this book.

Excellent read
This was a story I knew nothing about. I am glad I got the opportunity to read about Campbell's exploits.

Yet another wonderfully written piece on Detroit Under world of the 1970s
Yet another wonderfully written piece on Detroit Under world of the 1970s. Chilling description that puts the danger of Detroit in perspective.

It is accurate
I was with DEA 1969-1992, which included assignments in Detroit 1970-1980, so I was familiar with Chester Campbell. A buddy of mine wrote a book, "Thin White Lines", which talks about his experiences with Chester Campbell and others. The book is accurate as I know, but reads like a court transcript, very dry.

a lot of this book is not about Chester Campbell ...
a lot of this book is not about Chester Campbell the parts that are about him only say he committed serious crimes but don't tell any details about being a hitman other than he got stopped a few times with lots of guns in his car I lived in the Detroit area at the times in this book and knew a lot of the spots and recognized many names from the newspapers, otherwise I'd have given it only 1 star

Not as it seems
An ok book but as the man himself Chester did not contribute any insight at all was a bit dissapointing I thought it was him doing an autobiographical book but was not .
