The Best of Paul Robeson -- EXCELLENT!
If it weren't for Showboat (Universal/1936), I would not have been aware of Paul Robeson. Thank God, I watched it on TV. I have several CD album collections of Paul's music. This one is at the top. The songs included are priceless. I know of no other compilation of his that includes Joyce Kilmer's Trees. I loved this as a child and missed it. I will admit it has been decades since I last heard it. I have never heard anyone else sing it and make it theirs, like Paul Robeson. As for the other tracks, his voice is fully represented with its superb baritone. I ordered an extra, just to keep for the future. I recommend this album to anyone who wants to experience Mr. Robeson at his finest. I am so glad that this recording is still available. It is definitely worth the money spent many times over.

Spiritual
As a child I listened to a little metal music box of my Mother's. It played the tinkling, soulful sound of "Old Man River". After hearing the sound of Mr. Robeson's rendition of this beautiful classic, my heart felt so full, memories of that music box, my Mother and the other songs on this album are complete. What a beautiful voice and talent. "Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child", "Joshua Fit De Battle Of Jericho" and many other tunes are wonderfully sung by this talented man. My Mother taught me to appreciate so much and this music was a part of that training. I love it!

Paul Robeson's 20 Greatest tracks
I loved it because I remember the tunes when I was young but never owned any records of his but heard him on old movies, and a month ago I was listening to Classic FM radio in here in Australia and they played "Shenandoah". It was beautiful so got on to Amazon and looked him up and amazingly there was this CD so ordered it and through Amazon and through their amazing prompt service I am now enjoying as I am driving places, thank you Amazon!!

Old times are sometimes the best
My mom is 97 years old and is legally blind - so when I told her I had found a version of Shendoah by Paul Robeson, she immediately recognized the name and said she would love to have it - and she does love it!
