EarthQuaker Devices Terminal Destructive Fuzz Device Guitar Effects Pedal

I bought this pedal because the Black Keys used in a few songs in the album. It's a full blown fuzz.(Broken Amp) sound. I felt a bit dissapointed on the usability of this pedal. It's not a usable fuzz for blues rock. But it's great for Sludge, Stone Rock and Doom.

Let's talk about demos. If you're plugged into a squeaky clean amp, demos from EarthquakerDevices and PrymaxeVintage are the most accurate - it really is that buzzy. Also keep in mind that ProGuitarShop's amp is usually very loud, and you won't get the sounds you're hearing in their videos unless your amp is equally loud or slightly dirty. Pairing the Terminal with an OD can also smooth things out a bit if you don't like it too buzzy. It won't clean up with your volume knob. You can't find a place for it in your praise&worship band. This is not what the Terminal is all about.The voice knob works somewhat similarly to the EQD Hoof "Shift" knob. The Voice knob all the way down emphasizes the lower mid-frequencis, while the Voice knob cranked emphasizes the higher mid-frequencies. You'll want to tweak the treble knob last. Once you have your Gain and Voice set, use the Treble knob to fine tune how smooth you want your notes to sound. Like all EQD pedals, the EQ is highly interactive and covers a wide spectrum of sounds.Don't take that to mean that this pedal is versatile. It is not. It has a strong character that insists on taking over your guitar's natural voice. Get this pedal if you like what you hear in the demos, because I assure you, none of the videos do it justice. I love this thing with both teles and humbuckers. I pair it with an OD if I want a more "useable" sound. I use it on it's own if I just want to destroy the universe. I particularly enjoy pairing it with a slooooooow phaser, switching to the neck pickup, and playing my mediocre pentatonic licks through my reverb-cranked amp.Yes, I gave it 5 stars. Don't take that to mean "good fuzz" and buy it blindly. Use the stars to indicate that I, as a person that watched demos and loved it, have not had this much fun with a fuzz in a while.

IF you've ever owned a Jax Fuzzmaster and stupidly traded it away in your youth like I did, HERE is your chance to get that raunchy tone back into your life without paying over $300. Not only does this pedal replicate the farted-out, broken speaker, nasty fuzz of the Jax, but it also lets you go past that pedal's shortcomings. You may have forgotten just how much volume disappeared when you stepped on the Jax, or how the mid-range was sucked out of the tone to make for its extreme sound -- and you can still get that effect, if you want it -- but the Terminal allows you to keep the volume loud and to sculpt those once-missing tones into something more dynamic. As others have warned, this is not a pedal for the meek or those looking for sharp, precise tones. This is a mushy fuzz that will turn six-string chords into chaos -- you're better off playing power-fifths than thirds.Thanks, Earthquaker! You made the pedal I've long been looking for.
