Amazing door closer, great adjustability, easy to install once you figure it out! I installed it and it didn’t open, i worked out that i had the unit upside down, works like a charm now and i love it! Slightly heavy to open but still great! My door is hollow so i did attach it to the wood on the door, not the hollow area

It’s surprisingly well made for what is actually a good price. Very easy to fit (after re-reading the instructions- yes we’ll worth reading properly the first time). Totally silent smooth operation. Holds an external door firm in strong wind and even closes it against the wind. Has a nice feature to allow you to adjust the speed of closing as the door approaches closed.

The Carlisle Brass CDG003 Overhead Door Closer itself is solid, well-built, and works exactly as expected once fitted. The closing action is smooth and consistent, and the overall build quality feels premium for the price. However, I’ve given it 4 stars instead of 5 for one simple reason: the installation instructions are extremely poor. The diagrams are unclear, the steps are confusing, and the measurements don’t match up well with what you actually see when fitting the unit. It took much longer to install than it should have. If you’re experienced with door hardware, you’ll eventually figure it out — but for most people, the instructions will be frustrating. See attached photo of the instructions so you can see what I mean. Once installed, it works great — just be prepared for a bit of guesswork during setup!

Cheap, cheerful and functional. It's not the best door closer I've ever fitted but it's fantastic value and does the job. The template for fixing it to the door means a trained chimpanzee could install this door closer, it took less than 5 minutes.

I have always had a problem adjusting these door closers and invariably have to get someone else to set them. This worked straight out of the box with no need for any alterations. Closes the door perfectly, no slamming just a gentle latching. I was replacing a broken one so it was really simple as the holes were in the right place. We are a pub and it's on one of the most used doors, going to the toilets and the smoking area. Had it a couple of months and is still as good as the day I fitted it.

The product is well made and robust it is actually easy to fit but unless you are used to trade jargon the instructions are very difficult to follow. What is a clockwise closing door!? There is an extra fitting bracket that is supplied that would require chiselling away part of the door frame of a domestic door. The standard fitting doesn't go with the normal domestic architrave around a door frame and really requires some being removed. The screws used to secure the power shoe to the frame, while substantial, need to be longer if the architrave fitting to the frame has a buffer. The closing mechanism is very powerful for a domestic door and requires a good heave to open it. Addenda: I have just increased the review from 3* to 4* As today's help from customer support was exceptional. Following the service advice somewhat reduced the pressure required to open the door, and they stated an intention to improve the instructions as they are putting more of their products in the retail market. It is a pleasure to have good quality hardware at a reasonable price made in Britain not China.
