Sledge Hammer Box - Season 1+2 (uncut / 4 DVDs Edition) english audio

The supplier put a large sticker on the front of this DVD box set, reminding me that the product is as described on Amazon, so pay attention. There are four discs in the box, representing the two series/seasons of the show. The packaging and DVD menus are, I think, in German, but English audio is selectable from the menu. In short, if it is the show you care about, rather than the packaging, it's all there. If you want this packaged in English, good luck finding it at a reasonable price. As for the show itself, some may be horrified by the main character, "Sledge" having a dim view of women. He is something of a misogynist, but the comedy mainly comes from the point that he seems to be a relic from a bygone age, struggling to adjust to the modern world. It comes across as the show ridiculing his misogyny, rather than condoning it. Reaching for his gun as often as he does is probably more of a concern but, then again, that is also a part of the comedy. A running joke is his use of the catchphrase "Trust me, I know what I'm doing", when clearly he doesn't.If you haven't heard of the show, and are wondering why only two series were filmed, the show was a victim of poor scheduling both here in the UK and in the US too. The picture quality of the second series is noticeably less sharp, because the network made the decision to use cheaper film stock. If you like Police Squad, or spoofs in general, this is probably good for a few laughs. David Rasche is perfect in the lead role.

I'm glad I found this; it's as hilarious as I remember.Slightly annoying having the German version as default but just change it to the original English.

This is the cheapest way to buy this classic TV show. no problem selecting the Original English Language version.

Excellent tv show from the 80s I forgotten how funny and silly it was brings back a lot of memories flooding back its a import but it in english and abke to turn off the subtitles which is in Dutch as well as the packaging but that doesn't matter excellent DVD nevertheless

I don't normally find American humour particularly amusing but, when this was screened, it made such a refreshing change with the series completely taking the mickey out of the typical "shoot 'em up" police films & TV programmes! It's been brilliant to be able to buy the complete set on DVD, as I never got to see every episode when it was originally broadcast. The picture quality is remarkable considering its age, the packaging does not indicate whether it has been digitally enhanced, but certainly VHS would not have lasted this well. A "must buy" for all fellow lovers of this comedy!

Most of the episodes appear to have Italian as an alternative language to the German, not English as stated in the description. However if selected, Italian is in fact English (it looks like someone got the language codes wrong during the mastering process). How easy it is to change will depend on your player.

Bought this as a gift for someone whose VHS collection was smashed by his ex years ago. Now no longer available in the UK. Product imported from the Netherlands. Delivery was prompt.Discs were in perfect condition. But actual box quite brittle and fragile. Probably different quality plastic used by manufacturers. Was relieved to see audio was English. Shame about the Dutch subtitles. Couldn't access menu from the DVD player I trialled it on but I'm sure the menu and subtitle issues can be resolved through the root directory of the player-I didn't get time to explore that. Most annoying bits are the same trailers at the beginning of all discs in the first series only. That however could easily be skipped with the next chapter option.Overall I'm happy with the purchase.

It's been many years since I last saw Sledge Hammer but, being on a bit of a retro kick at the moment, I thought I'd give it a chance and I'm really glad that I did. Even now every episode is full of unexpected laugh out loud moments. It's every cop-show cliche in the book and then some and its deliberate "so bad it's good" style has survived remarkably well so that within a very few episodes I was back in to it.Yes it is meant to be this incredibly cheesy but that, combined with it's sharp dialogue, is exactly its appeal.

Sadly this edition support german & English languages but NO subltitles at all.Anyway it's cheap and complete.Suggested only for German or really good english listener.

As funny as I remember! Accidentally ordered the German version, but was thrilled to find out each episode is in German or English. Note to those who buy it, if your dvd player offers only German or Italian, the Italian setting is actually English.
