Sturdy but with a catch
It's heft solid and good as far as security but the keys can be bent easily and damaged. Then if you lose one key and try to get a replacement that is a another problem all together.

Works for my needs
This box is very sturdy and my only dislike is the latching is rather flimsy. Otherwise, its a very nice box to keep important papers in.

It does the job!
So aside from being fireproof, waterproof.. this thing might also be burglary proof because it is HEAVY!! It does exactly what it needs to. I do worry about remember to leave it to air out once a month so for now, I've been storing important documents inside ziplocks inside the safe!

Perfect for passports
Perfect for me. Passports, social security, birth certificates, car title, deed, and other misc stuff. Will not fit 8.5x11 so dont get this if you must fit an unfolded document that is 8.5x11 or larger. I feel much better knowing these are locked and protected from fire. And if nothing else, I now have a centralized defined location for this type of stuff.

Hopefully it Works! No Fires Yet
We have had this for about 4 years and assume it works. No fires yet, but we keep everything important in it. I would feel a little better with this inside a steel safe, just because the lock is not the best, but this is more designed to keep fire out, and not as much thieves. It's a nice, heavier briefcase style chest that I can only hope works. Just basing my opinion off the lock, it doesn't make me very happy. But, it has kept my kids out so that's a plus. Just know what you are getting and its intended purpose. For this price point, you don't really get both a really good lock and fireproof. But if it keeps out the fire it is doing what it's supposed to. I just wish they had made a better lock on it. I can pick it with my lock picking skills, which are mediocre at best. We may be purchasing a better safe soon that is both fireproof and has an excellent locking mechanism, but can't guarantee it will be First Alert based on what we've seen.
