Excel Adjustable Deck-Locking Tool Cart, Sold by Amazon, ~$165, 4 star
Excel Adjustable Deck-Locking Tool Cart, Sold by Amazon, ~$165(A) About the product:(1) Functionality: The Excel Adjustable Deck-Locking Tool Cart consists of a very heavy table top, about 15 lbs, sitting atop a small roller cart with a 4 cavity compartment attached. It is just as pictured on Amazon's website. Two drawers of the cart cavities are pullout drawers, one is a small , open shelf and the final one is the floor of the compartment. The drawers are small , about 18 inches wide and 12 inches deep, as is the shelf area. The table top, and the two pull out drawers have thin, rubber anti-skid mats. The shelf, top of the compartment and the floor of the compartment do not have any lining. The table top has 3 small ~3 x 6 "pencil" slots for temporary storage of small parts or tools. They also have anti-skid mats.. The corners of the table has plastic anti bump guards. The whole thing weights about 40lbs. The loading is 80lbs total , with about 20lbs on the corners. There are 4 x 3.5 inch rubber casters on the corners. The compartment has a magnetic latch with a key lock. It comes with 2 small keys. The table top actually adjusts up to 53inches , greater than the advertised 45inches.. Assembly time was about 35 minutes. You will need metric tools……or a Crescent wrench. (12mm, 14mm and 17mm ).Rating : 4.5 stars.(2) Design Quality: It is a very simple design . It is well balanced. The unit has a heavy, sturdy feel. It comes in pieces with a bag of bolts. Alignment is not very good. i.e.: the cart looks crooked when aligned with the roller cart. Material is thick, heavy steel, welded at all major joints and powder coated. In my case , red. All screws are M8 and M6 metrics. There are brass inserts in the main body parts such that the aluminum screws are going into brass inserts. The drawers are roller slide outs with good handles. They are lined.Rating : 4 stars.(3) Manufacturing Quality: It is made in China and not with Apple/ Foxconn quality. The powdercoat is uneven. The compartment does not line up well with screwholes on the frame , so it takes a bit of pushing to get things aligned. The corner bumpers are plastic pop riveted on the corners of the table top. Half of them were broken. Welds were good. Material was good and heavy. The bolt lock holding the table top up on the inner cannula was in very tight , requiring a hammer and a drift to remove it in order to adjust the height of the table top. All appropriate screws were present.Rating : 3 stars.(B) About the service:(1) As advertised: It was pretty much as advertised except the Amazon web page said the max height was 41 inches. I could get this one up to 53 inches (w/ casters).Rating : 5 stars.(2) Shipping and Packing: Shipping was fast and on time with Prime. Packing left something to be desired. The top of the table cannula had punched through the side of the shipping container and had a battle with another package or the side of the UPS truck. The table riser lost. It took a hammer to get it back in shape for assembly. The same riser had been scraping against the inner side of the table and removed some of the powder coat.Rating : 2 stars.(3) Customer service: Not used.(C.) Total Experience: Rating : 4 stars.

Locking tool cart
I bought this unit because it addressed most of my requirements. It has adequate, locking storage for the tools I use in my work changing out rolls in a flour mill. The overhead tray is perfect for keeping the tools handy while working, so I'm not using adjacent spaces to act as temporary storage for various items. At the end of the job everything goes back into either the drawers or the under drawer storage area. The top drawer is okay for screwdrivers and combination wrenches, but is only about a foot square. The second drawer is deep enough for sockets and rachetes, but again is not big enough for an entire toolset. There is a single shelf under the drawers and then an open area under that. I can get all the tools I need into this rather smallish unit, but I don't need a lot of tools for this specific job. The lock on the box is pretty cheap and the studs holding the casters to the frame are probably too small because I've already bent one in only one day of use. The little plastic corner rub blocks on the tray need to be glued on as the little plastic studs holding them on will fail at the first contact with just about anything. Because all the tool storage is at one end, it tends to unweight the opposite end. It really needs a shelf or box on the rest of the frame to provide extra storage that could be used for temporary items used at the job site. In my case it could hold a weighty chain fall that would really balance out the loaded tool storage. Of course, one could easily add this to the unit. Overall, it addresses my concerns and needs.

Easy Assembly but Flimsy Construction
Pros: I like the idea of having a tabletop, and tool box configuration. The bolts were good quality. The assembly was very easy and straight forward. The tool box seems to operate smoothly. The powder coat paint seemed smooth and durable. The wheels seem like they are good quality. I like the extra space on the side opposite the toolbox, which allowed me to add an additional unit.Cons: The square tubing allowed the wheels to bend as soon as I put a cut-off saw on the table. I think it probably weighs about 40 lbs. I noticed that I couldn't control the direction of movement when rolling the unit around my shop, and found that the wheels were collapsing the tubing. I had to turn the unit over, straighten the tubing, and then add angle iron support for the wheels. (see my product images). The corner protectors on the top shelf are attached with cheesy plastic push-on grommets, which had about 25% broken in shipping. I will remove them all and glue the corner protectors in place. My shop neighbor was telling me to send it back, but I liked the overall configuration, and had the additional skills and hardware to make the unit work for me. I just think it could have been built better for only a few more dollars.

Cart works well; don't plan on heavy duty use
the unit arrived with minor shipping damage. a squashed box corner that held the horizontal tray broke the cheapie plastic rivets that hold the rubber tray mat in place; a minor annoyance. there is no mat on the top of the cabinet, wish there was. I had a piece of rubber matting handy, a couple of minutes work with a razor knife, and presto! problem solved.the tray and cabinet is slightly heavier than Harbor Freight-ish gauge cabinet sheet metal, it works just fine, but don't plan on commercial (i.e. heavy) usage. this is designed and constructed for a DIYer with a medium to medium-large honey-do list.storage space is fine, drawers are a bit small, but if you look at the pictures that will be evident.my addition to the unit is to contact a sheet metal shop and have a 1.5" deep tray made that will sit on the bottom of the cart on the frame side, this will be used for putting tools etc in when crawling around under vehicles and other floor level projects.overall I would give it a B+.
